The airline was launched on July 5, 1994 with two Boeing 737-200s on routes between Denver and Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Minot, N.D. During this time, the total employee strength was 180. Today, Frontier Airlines is a wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc. The latter also owns Chautauqua Airlines, Republic Airlines, and Shuttle America.

The aviation company has won several awards. Some of the most notable ones include the following:

• Rated second in passenger satisfaction in the Market Metrix Hospitality Index for the first quarter of 2009
• In 2008, it won the Effie award for the second consecutive year
• In December 2006, Business Traveler magazine declared Frontier as the “Best LCC” in its annual readers’ poll

Frontier Airlines flights carry passengers to major destinations in the United States, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. The current fleet consists of the following - 16 Airbus A320s; 37 Airbus A319s & 3 Airbus A318s.

The Frontier Airlines baggage allowance policy states that each passenger is allowed to board one piece of carry-on luggage and one personal item. Carry on baggage’s dimensions including wheels and handles should not exceed 9.5" height * 15.5" width * 24" length. The bag’s weight should not exceed 35 pounds. A personal item may be defined as a handbag, purse, pocketbook, backpack, briefcase, laptop with or without a bag.
