- Bangkok Airways Airlines
With Suvarnabhumi Airport as its base, Bangkok Airways is an airline based at Chatuchak district, Bangkok.
In 1968, the airline became the first private aviation company in Thailand by establishing Sahakol Air. It provided charter services through its first aircraft, Trade Wind, which was a two-engine, 9-seater plane. Regular charter assignments came from oil and natural gas exploration companies in the Gulf of Thailand.
With an increase in demand for air transportation, Bangkok Airways became the country’s first privately-owned domestic airline and began its operations in 1986. Initially, it offered scheduled flights from Bangkok to Krabi, Korat, and Surin. Today, it offers services across various other destinations both within and outside Thailand. The aviation company has also invested in building and maintaining privately-operated airports at Trat, Samui and Sukhothai.
Bangkok Airlines has a fleet of 8 ATR 72-500s, 70-seater turbo-prop aircraft with spacious seating and ample cargo space. It also has 7 Airbus 319s with an operational flexibility that extends to 6,800 km and even longer for non-stop trans-Atlantic flights. Besides, it possesses 3 Airbus 320s whose fly-by-wire control system makes it one of the most modern aircraft available.
The airline has a frequent flyer program called FlyerBonus through which you can earn award points while traveling aboard Bangkok Airlines. You may enjoy access to boutique lounges and receive complimentary snacks and beverages as well as free Internet access facility.
With the business class of the carrier, called Blue Ribbon Club, you may enjoy exclusive privileges like a dedicated check-in counter. Spacious seating and an exclusive menu for your taste buds will enhance your flying experience.
The Bangkok Airways baggage allowance states that an economy class passenger may carry a maximum weight of 20 kgs per adult and 10 kgs per child. For Blue Ribbon Class passengers, the maximum weight allowance per adult is extended to 30 kgs.
