In 1995, when Austria regained sovereignty over its airspace with the signature of the State Treaty, what came into existence were Air Austria and Austrian Airways. Till this point, neither of the airline companies began operating its flights. 4th April 1957 was a historic day as the two companies finally merged to form Austrian Airlines.

The aviation company has won several awards. Some of the most notable ones include the following:

Austrian Airlines baggage allowance policy for check-in luggage states that Economy Class passengers are allowed to board 1 bag up to 23 kgs and Business Class passengers are allowed to board 2 bags up to 32 kgs.

For hand luggage, Economy Class passengers are allowed 1 item weighing up to 8 kgs and Business Class passengers may carry2 pieces up to 8 kgs each.
