'A short distance from Aurangabad is another set of caves, the Ellora Caves also known as ‘Verul Leni’ in the local language. These caves too feature on UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites. Located on the Charanandri Hill, there are 34 caves in Ellora that were carved between the 3rd and 7th centuries AD. The Ellora Caves consist of a unique assortment of structures unifying Hindu, Jain and Buddhist faiths. Ellora houses a number of structures including Buddhist Chaityas and monasteries, as well as Hindu and Jain structures. One of the highlights of the caves is the splendid monolithic edifice named the Kailash Temple.'
