'Located within the Jagannath Temple complex, the Vimala Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Vimala or Bimala. This temple is also considered a Shakthi Peetha, or one of the holiest temples in India. Built completely of sandstone and laterite, the temple is situated next to a sacred pond and has four main areas—the inner sanctum, the assembly hall, the festival hall and the hall of offerings (prasad). Considering its age and significance, it is maintained by the Archeological Survey of India. It is believed that devotees should pay respects to Goddess Vimala before entering the main Jagannath temple.'
