'A scenic man-made water body, Wards Lake is situated in the center of the city. It is one of the preferred places for the locals to lazily stroll around lush greenery. Wards Lake is shaped like a horse-shoe and consists of a beautiful lawn filled with many varieties of colorful flowers. The lake was named after the former Chief Commissioner of Assam, Sir William Ward. It was ultimately completed in 1894 under Colonel Hopkins. Apart from garden walkways, there are also lovely bridges and a boating facility available. One will find a Botanical Garden with a variety of orchids near the lake.'
