'Perhaps the most striking jewel in the treasure chest of Udaipur, Lake Pichola is the oldest lake in the city and one of the largest and most beautiful in Rajasthan. This artificial freshwater lake was created in 1362 and enlarged by Maharana Udai Singh II following the foundation of the city. With time, many islands have developed on this 4 km long and 3 km wide picturesque waterfront, including the Lake Palace and Jag Mandir. A boat ride on its pristine waters, lined by imposing edifices, bathing ghats, temples, gardens and lofty hills, offers an insight into the city in all its glory.'
