'This ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the largest temples in Kerala and even in India. Situated at the heart of the city, it displays the Kerala style of architecture. The festival Pooram is celebrated with great enthusiasm here, showing off the city’s rich cultural background. The Vadakkunnathan Temple attracts many tourists and is a must-visit spot in Thrissur. The temple is surrounded with a massive stone that encloses it. There are four gateways, called gopurams, in that wall. The presiding deities in this temple include Lord Paramashiva, Paravati, Shankar Narayan, Ganpati, Shri Rama and Shri Krishna.'
