Well, it's in the middle of everything. The best part of it is that you go out into the ocean of tourists and it's walking distance to a full range of restaurants (and cafes) and attractions, such as the temple in the lake, displaying the remains of the old grandfather turtle, probably related to the Great A'Tuin. Anyway, we digress. The bad part of it, is that you get the worst of Hanoi traffic to get in and out. So I don't particularly recommend it for business travels if your local contacts are on the outskirts of the city. This is a super decent hotel, with a decent breakfast, cheap, with its consequences for being cheap, such as old unsightly carpeted floor and air conditioning with very little actual adjustment (regardless of the remote control features), besides being on or being off.

Very comfortable and pleasant hotel. Air conditioning, heat, water pressure and heat- all worked well. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wonderful breakfast spread. We repeatedly chose to go back to this hotel after our trips to other parts of Vietnam and Laos.

My best compliments to the Hotel staff led by Ms Thao and her staff Ms Linh. They were very gracious hosts and helped us in a lot of ways. As first timers to Hanoi, we had a lot of questions of where to go, how to go there and where to eat, etc. They answered our questions with complete detail and with a smile. The rooms were nice befitting of a boutique hotel though the floor rugs need to be replaced as they are visibly worn out. The towels though clean may need to be replaced.

Fraud attempted after making a booking via a well known site. Someone who had access to the booking details contacted me first on whatsapp, then sent a message through the booking platform that the credit card needs to be revalidated via another site. This is all fake and confirmed by phone with the hotel. While the hotel itself is not at fault, this should be a warning to all clients that frauds are attempted and it must be by one hotel employee with access to the booking platform.

Location was good, in Old Hanoi and close to the Lake. Hotel road access not affected by the weekend road closures around the Lake though traffic buildup can be expected. Within walking distance of the whole of Old Hanoi. Rooms were functional and generally clean. Most of the rooms do not have good views, unless you pay more. Showers worked and there is decently hot water. The hotel seems to avoid central air conditioning of the hotel corridors making the place feel humid, outside of the rooms. The buffet breakfast is good, with reasonable variety, changed everyday. There’s always a different soup noodle option. Two complimentary bottles of water daily. Don’t buy the bottles of water in the hotel. They cost over 50K Dong each. It’s cheaper to get the water at the marts nearby.
