My daughter and I stayed here for three nights right before her study abroad program . We were between a number of Marriott properties and so glad we chose this one. The location could not have been better… close to everything including the central tram stop right around the corner. I was a little concerned when reading about the rooms and the bathrooms and while they were a little bit funky, they were very clean and functional and fun. As a Platinum member, we had breakfast included every morning and enjoyed both restaurants. We were in a room with two twins in the exchange building which had plenty of room and the beds were so comfortable Probably the only thing that was mentioned before and caused the lack of 5 stars was the nightclub on the top floor. Friday and Saturday you could feel the music reverberating and we were on the first floor. It was not enough to keep us up, but if you were on a higher floor, I would imagine it was would be an issue . That being said, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We arrived in Amsterdam from an early morning flight from the US. The staff at the hotel were amazing.--so kind and accommodating. We had to wait a while for our room to be cleaned, but we were offered cappuccinos and taken very well care of. Once, a very nice young man showed us to our room. We could shower and nap before walking through the amazing city of Amsterdam. Also, our room had a canal view, which made me so happy. It was beautiful. I will tell you that the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I did have problems with the bathroom being so exposed. There was no privacy for dressing, etc., and the shower door was extremely heavy. I felt that the lighting in the room was poor, and there wasn't a makeup mirror, which was a priority for me. There was a nice rooftop bar across the street in a newer section of the hotel. It had great views, drinks, and service. I would stay at the hotel again, but perhaps I would ask for a room with a more traditional bathroom—one with a door!

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. The customer service is atrocious and the value for money is poor. We stayed for three nights and had three rooms in that time! Smells coming form the drains made our room impossible to sleep in. I’ve stayed in the W in Barcelona and Abu Dhabi which are worthy of a five star rating. This hotel is barely worth 3. I was offered 50 euros discount for all the aggravation that this hotel caused us during our stay. I have stayed in hotels in Amsterdam that are half the price and twice as good. Stay well clear

Great location and a great hotel. Can’t say we made much use of any of the facilities other than Mr Porter restaurant which was fantastic along with the lounge both of which had a great vibe. Not sure it would work with my family but perfect for couples/friends.

A lot of great things about the W Amsterdam. Obviously, as with other W Hotels, it is themed as a trendy, young, urban chic retreat place and this is probably not for everyone - and whilst a family of 4 with teenagers is not particularly the "target clientele" of the W, we did enjoy our 3 night stay there. In short, a great (very central) location, excellent restaurants, great design/decoration, a lovely space on the top floor with a bar and terrace...We particularly enjoyed the spa (with a small indoor swimming pool, sauna etc.). Also one of our favourite moment was the breakfast in the majestic dinning hall (Bank side) - beautiful setting, nice choice and quality, not crowded and friendly and efficient service. Worth noting that the hotel is split in 2 buildings (on both side of a street). Our main complaint with the W Amsterdam was the quality of service, sometimes shambolic and short of 5-star standards. One day the room was not cleaned at all (despite us telling both the room service and reception - several times - that they had missed our room earlier - to no avail) and the concierge service was also not impressive (asking for a place for lunch whilst sightseeing and being sent to a place with no booking and need to queue...).
