We had an amazing time! The best experience i probably ever had! The food was amazing and was really enjoyable for me and my family. We loved it so much! As somebody who has never been to Rome before, this is definitely recommended! Deserves a 5/5!!

Outstanding hotel. Convenient to most attractions by foot, restaurant, train station. A little far from the Vatican. About 50 min walk if you walk it. Recommend taxi from this hotel to Vatican. Personal were great...attentive and the rooms were 5 plus stars. Comfy beds. Bathrooms with all the needs. And they gave us complimentary wine bottle. Super nice.

Expect Better from Marriott

There were many positives and negatives at this property. While I wouldn’t recommend it, if you got a deal or had to stay there, it’s fine. The hotel common areas are very nice and very grand. The rooms have nice bathrooms (although the high placement of the body wash in the tub - requiring you to stand in the tub to access it - made no sense) and great turndown service. The carpet, however, was in desperate need of replacement in both rooms in which we stayed (they were pretty disgusting looking), and the furniture seemed very old, worn, and mis matched (but maybe okay if they are antiques?) . The beds were very comfortable. The internet service was very problematic and every time I called for help I was put on hold indefinitely. I couldn’t even book excursions on Viator or plan my days activities bc I had no wifi and when I finally got online, Viator was sold out and I could do what I had planned to do in Rome. Perhaps I was the problem, but who knows because I could not get any help. The doormen weren’t always available to help with taxis and the taxis charges seemed to vary in a way that made me question whether we were being taken advantage of (I would hope the hotel would work with reputable taxi companies - the concierge booked our taxi to the airport and the driver would only take cash - thank goodness I had enough cash left at the end of our trip). The spa was excellent and I never had a better massage in my life! Unfortunately, our last night ended poorly. After an exhausting day trip to Florence with my elderly mother, we were sorting our things to prepare to pack for our return trip home the next day when suddenly water started streaming from the ceiling above the toilet. I immediately called the front desk (Btw, based on the stained ceiling, this was not the first time there was a leak), and was informed we would need to move. I expressed hesitation as my mom is not only elderly but also ill and we were already dressed for bed. He said we would have to move. We had to throw our stuff together and gentlemen came to move us to a new room, very different than our original room. We had to figure out the lights, find outlets etc and pack, unpack, repack as well as dress etc. It was a huge burden and a physical challenge for my mom especially. While there were verbal apologies, they did nothing else. They did not offer room service (eg, send some sweets), offer a free breakfast the next day or anything. They did not offer us a free night or even a discount on our room either. Instead, I had to express that we were upset about the situation and would expect some compensation and they ultimately credited us about 100 Euros. Whether this was sufficient idk… If they had offered it upfront, it would have felt better, but given that we had to ask for it, we left on a very sour note.

Excellent Stay for Our Anniversary

From the moment that we arrived late at night to the moment that we left, everything was absolutely spot on. Riccardo at the front desk was a saint and was there to assist us with whatever we needed throughout our stay. We joked that he must live there as he seemed to be available at all times, day and night. The rest of the staff were friendly and helpful as well. We were upgraded to a large suite with one very large bedroom, a living room, a good-sized bathroom, and two step-out balconies. The air conditioning worked great. I saw some issues in prior reviews, so I wanted to make this clear as we head into summer. The bed was super comfy, and the suite was very quiet as long as the balcony doors were closed. We looked out onto Via Vittorio Veneto, which can be noisy. All in all, it was a fantastic stay, and we would definitely call the Westin home on our next trip to Rome.

Treated Like Royalty

The Westin Excelsior is an experience. From the moment you walk through the door, you are treated like royalty. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous. The heavenly beds are truly that - heavenly. The perfect way to end the day is at the hotel bar. The bartender recommended the best cocktails, and it was an event to watch him prepare. This isn't the first time I've stayed at this hotel - and it certainly won't be the last. Can't wait to visit again!
