Great service, big clean rooms, excellent amenities, right next to a small shopping centre with a spa and restaurants, and within walking distance to Gurney Paragon and Gurney Plaza. Plenty of hawker food just a short walk away too. Definitely my first choice if I were ever in Penang again.

Fabulous stay, can’t wait to come back. Rooms are spacious, decor is lovely, everything is immaculately clean. Pool is large and seperate to a kids pool which is nice as this trip we were not travelling with kids, but is inclusive if you were. Poolside bar serves lovely cocktails, I’m not much of a cocktail person usually but they were made properly so it was really enjoyable. The bar downstairs is lovely, staff are friendly. Only criticism is the restaurant, it’s perfect but the meals don’t always come out in a timely fashion but the flavours are lovely.

Ascott Gurney was a newly renovated establishment right across the Gurney Bay. 2 adults and 1 toddler stayed for 4 nights and we had a good time, especially my daughter. There are so many things to do at Ascott gurney and its surrounding for kids. There is a large kids pool with 2 slides, which my daughter really likes. There is also a small playroom but need to add more toys. Across the street is a wonderful & brand new public playground. Beside the hotel, there is a mall that has indoor playground just in case it rains during your stay. As for the room, it was immaculately clean, bedsheet and towel also smells fresh, the room was spacious with small pantry & sink and a seating area overlooking the bay. It was perfect for us since we prefer to do food delivery for lunch because it is so hot during the day. We were also surprise that the Breakfast was also very good. Plenty of options and also delicious. I really enjoyed the tofufa, roti canai , and nasi lemak. One drawback is the service of the front desk and call operator is very lacking. Sometimes when I call nobody picks up and the front desk have an attitude. Is it because it’s more like serviced apartment than hotel? However, will definitely stay here again if I ever visit Penang again, hopefully the service will be better next time.

We stayed in Ascott Penang last weekend and our son had so much fun that he was upset the holiday had to end. This place is really kids-oriented, something not easily available in Georgetown. Most kids hotels are in Feringghi but Feringghi doesn’t have good food. The kiddie pool is great and my son liked playing in the playroom too, and the small slide next to it. There’s a new public space in Gurney Bay just opposite Ascott and the playground there is great too! There’s a nearby mosque for Friday prayers and just take the 101 bus from Komtar or Penang road to get back to the hotel. In-room appliances like bread toaster is super functional. We bought bread and jam and the toaster is a tremendous help for hunger after playing/ swimming! Definitely coming back here the next time we head out to Penang!
