Sorry to everyone who ends up in room 305, we had lots of black mould in our bathroom, the room would smell no matter what (and when airing it out the outside area smelt worse than the inside). The carpets (corridor) and outer sheet had stains and hair like stuck around the hotel in general, but they provided us with a clean white sheet underneath so it was fine. The food was actually better than I expected to be, and the whole hotel as a whole was average, although a little dirty. As we were here on a school trip, we were able to have a look at the other rooms, and they did seem to be much cleaner. In summary: - not the cleanest, bathroom wasn’t clean - food was average, accurate for the pricing - walls didn’t block sounds very well, you could hear doors opening and closing around - area isn’t nice, but 10-30 min walk away from nicer parts

We thought this exceptionally good value for money. Room and hotel overall was clean and comfortable. Great breakfast included in price. Conveniently located for nice walk to Plaka area (c10 mins) and Acropolis (c 20mins) and metro is literally round the corner. This hotel is situated in a street off main road but still busy traffic and can be a bit noisy .... But, it's a big, busy city and this is to be expected. We would have no hesitation booking again and recommending this hotel. There's a small shop next door to buy water and snacks (get crisps, etc for flight home as airport prices are very expensive)

I really rarely write reviews but this hotel really pushed me to my limits. First of all, the hotel is located in a bad area, drug addicts injecting themselves in the open street is normal here. But the worst thing is the hygiene in this hotel and especially in the rooms. Dirt everywhere. Mold in the bathrooms, hair and dirt under the sheets and dust on the dressers. You will get a disgusting surprise when you lift the mattress! The windows are dirty and bird Poop litter the windowsill. The Hallway in front of the room has not been vacuumed for years. The high point was when we came to our room one evening and found foreign dirty sandals in our room!!!! Of course we told the hotel everything and even changed our room! But as expected, this room was just as disgusting. I am glad that we could change our hotel at short notice and could get away from this Hell

Do not stay here. Hotel and rooms are not clean, used boxers left outside window. Stayed here for 2 nights and the food was left on the stairs the entire time. Meant to be in a triple room but there was only 2 beds plus a camp bed. Arrived at 7pm was greeted by people cooking drugs on doorstep and had to walk through the prostitutes to get inside. Windows didn’t lock and doors had been busted open on our floor. Staff were either rude or monosyllabic.

We booked The Alassia as it was within our budget and good walking distance to all the sites plus restaurants. I was a bit worried after booking reading that the area isn't great with drug users etc. This didn't put us off and we planned to stay vigilant. We arrived early hours due to flight delay and was met by reception who was helpful. When we got to our room I was disappointed to find a double bed instead of twins as requested. It was 2.30am my teenage Daughter and I was very tired so we shared. I was going to request changing the room in the morning but we decided to leave it as wanted to keep a room with the balcony. The bed was large size and pillows were so comfy. Room it's dated but kept very clean and we had no complaints. The balcony over looked run down buildings and due to the balcony below staggered outwards we had no street view but guess that was a good thing. Apart from the nice hotel front the street is lined with graffiti which does nt give the hotel any justice. We went down for breakfast and there was a small buffet but met our needs. Fresh fruit. Salad. ham, cheese, Greek yoghurt, cereals, cooked items such as eggs, bacon, frankfurter, beans, tomato and omelette. Croissants. Bread and preserves. Fruit juice on tap and hot water for coffee and tea. However there was only lemon or camomile tea bags so just had lemon tea every day. Not an issue for me but if you like a home brew then I suggest bringing your own t bags. Please don't be put off with location as within 5 mins walk you're out of the worst part of Athens and shops, restaurants plus sights are all within easy reach. We walked past Omonia every night, although not too late and did not see or get bothered by anyone. This hotel is great as a base to put your head down after a long day sight seeing and a good start to the day to fuel up. It's greece I would not expect anymore for the price I paid. Once in the hotel we felt safe and it was quiet. A bit of traffic noise but quiet at night. The only thing I would ask is if staff could be a bit more welcoming ie Good Morning etc. Maybe because we were from England and most guests seemed to be locals. They also have school trips with children staying but they were well behaved. I would recommend this hotel on a budget who just wants a base if sight seeing all day.
