Awesome resort with average everything else

The resort itself is awesome, landscapes are great. But the Taj'ness is missing, somehow we didn't get the same customer service we expect from Taj, looks like Marriott has taken over in that department, Marriott is just superb. The smiles we got was fake, didn't know who the manager was, he never introduced himself/herself. Restaurant was below average, given there's not a whole lot to do in Bekal, that was a real dissatisfier. Overall I don't think I am recommending to anyone nor am I going back.

We had a great time at Taj Bekal,the staff was very supportive special thanks to Mr Amit and team who helped us in great way.We were upgraded to Villa..The buffet spread was great too. . Overall the experience was great and we made good memories ☺️

We chose the Taj Bekal resort to celebrate a milestone birthday. I must admit it was one of the very best resort experiences that we have ever had. Right from the check-in up to the check-out 3 days later, we experienced the legendary 'Taj Hospitality' in its full glory. Everything about our suite was close to perfection. The Queen size bed with soft mattress and comfy pillows, the spacious and bright room, the well appointed bathroom, the air conditioning - just about every aspect of the room added to our great experience. We had the opportunity to experience the in-room dining as well as the 3 resturants in the resort. The buffet breakfast at the Backwater Cafe was a majestic spread. We had a special dinner at their sea food restaurant 'By the Bay' which is just beside the beach. There is also a very good Italian restaurant near the pool where the chef served us a very good pasta dish for dinner. The staff in these resturants were all very friendly and helpful. The resort is situated next to the back waters as well as an estuary where the Kappil river flows into the Arabian sea. There is a private path to the adjoining Kappil beach where we spent every evening enjoying the sun set as well as long walks. The beach is relatively clean and deserted which makes it an enjoyable place to spend the evenings. The weather tends to be hot during most parts of the year. But the room was so well air conditioned that you feel so relieved when you step in after your excursion to the beach. In conclusion, our stay here was a truly memorable experience. This resort is a 'hidden gem' which I would recommend without reservation to anyone looking for a great beach experience. We wish to thank the Taj Bekal management and staff for their uncompromising focus on delivering a special experience for us.

Resort with beautifully-kept grounds. The plunge-pool villas are outstanding - the rooms are comfortable and well-designed and appointed, with large sliding interior doors opening up to a long, natural-light filled bathroom. The outside patio is very private, but does not feel closed-in at all - it offers a stand alone canopy-covered bathtub, an open-air shower, an oversized swing lounger, and of course, an extra-large plunge pool. Only comment for improvement is that a better upkeeping of some of the wall trims and fixture details would really take these rooms and the whole experience to the next level. The resort pool is absolutely gorgeous - perched over the lawns, surrounded by greenery, good for swimming, featuring a separate area for kids to swim/play. The beach, however beautiful and clean, is not suitable for swimming and does have any infrastructure, like sun loungers. Addressing the beach erosion issue that maybe preventing it from being swimmable would definitely drive this property to the next level, Highly recommend the kayaking in the hotel’s own backwater space - safe, very tranquil and gives an idea of the natural beauty of the backwaters flora and fauna (a lot of birds!). Spa is great, with local therapies and competent service. Gym is reasonably appointed and its best feature is that it opens up to the green outdoor spaces and as a result, the working out area is filled with natural light, which is great when working out. Beach restaurant serves unpretentious, local, quality food. Breakfast and all-day dinning are adequate (although the space at the back feels out of place for a five-star resort). Front desk welcoming and overall service are all great.

Awesome place to be with family and friends. Fantastic location and you will enjoy everything in the resort. Perfect holiday destination to relax with clean beaches and lovely swimming pools. Wonderful and spacious rooms. Great food. Just experience it.
