There is always one thing that is good in government properties. It is the location. Bang opposite to the heritage temple. The property needs to be maintained in terms of greenery. The food (breakfast) quantity is not enough for a filling. However other facilities are good.

I've stayed in Hoysala Shantala on previous research trips and have always found the location safe and conducive to work. The bed linen is clean and bathrooms well maintained. The food available at the restaurant now is very basic but that is understandable as the pandemic hit tourism badly and the footfall was low. Mayura Shantala is an ideal location for people, families or even women travelling solo who want to spend some time exploring and researching the Hoysala structures - the Hoysaleswara Complex and Museum, Kedareswara and the Jain Temples, the ruins of Nagareswara, the Virabhadra temple in the village, a few Hoysala structures near Pushpagiri and Hulikere Kalyani. A few suggestions. I request the management to make the rooms better ventilated and naturally lit without compromising privacy. There are enough windows but there is no provision for keeping them open. As the pandemic has proved, natural ventilation is a basic health requirement - the garden and trees allow beautiful views from windows. Handloom cotton curtains instead of synthetic would be more aesthetic and healthier. Second request- please provide detachable single beds at least in some rooms. Not every group travelling likes double beds.

We stayed here just for a night. Rooms are spacious and clean. Plus point is this hotel is just next to the halebeedu temple , so we can take a walk to the temple first thing in the morning. We reached quite late in the night, hence not much option for dinner. Otherwise a nice place to stay for i night

Basic and clean government hotel/rest house, where we stayed for 3 nights while we visited the 3 temples nearby. Excellent location across the road from the main historic temple and lake. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast available and nice outside eating area. Good value for money,.
