I have been staying at this hotel quite often, and they never fail to impress me. Lobby and my room were very convenient, big, quiet, and felt fresh. I loved the quality of the bed and accessories. There is no doubt about the taste of food. See you soon!

The hotel is impressively located in the Diplomatic area and has a grand elegance. The staff and service is friendly and they deserve to be praised for their hospitality. The restaurant, Bukhara, is world class, and a visit to this hotel without sampling some of the finest food and service in India would be an opportunity missed. However, and it pains me to say this, the administration of the hotel leaves much to be desired. When you pay in full in advance, as requested, and the finance department does not communicate this with the front desk, there are bound to be tense moments. Like the four times we had to argue with reception to remove room costs from the bill as they had been pre-paid some months earlier. We were only believed when one of the team produced a copy of the receipt. However, that still didn’t stop them trying to charge me once again for everything upon my check out. My advice; check each bill carefully and carry copies of every payment as proof. Once ITC sort this basic issue, you can relax and enjoy the experience.

We were there for 3 nights in April and we were thoroughly impressed by the hospitality and the attention to details. Upon arrival, we were greeted and checked in promptly. The receptionist was very courteous and knowledgeable. Ankesh was the manager and he helped us with all questions. Phoebe was in guest relations and helped us track down each type of shops we requested. She also made appointments on my behalf. Dharam Pal in the restaurant took care of each detail during breakfasts in the mornings for us. He went out of his way to ensure we had what we wanted.

The ITC Maurya is a victim of it's own success. It used to be one of my favourite hotels, and it still has an amazing amount of charm. Those who work for it, are incredibly proud of the brand, and the old-time staff go above and beyond to help. However, behind this prestige, is an aging hotel that does not seem/want to modernize. Rooms are beginning to look dated, and there seems to be a general drop in upkeep. In addition, my single biggest issue with the hotel is how crowded it looks/feels. As an old-timer, this is a place where diplomats and visiting Heads of State stay. Apparently, it's because the layout of the hotel ensures that various sections can be cordoned off with ease. However, this creates a constant buzz of crowds across the hotel lobby and facilities. Add in the view that every Indian middle-upper class wedding looks like it is taking place here, the hotel seems to prioritize quick earnings vs. genuine guests who are looking for some relax and comfort. Still a great place, and Bukhara is a wonderful restaurant, but there are better and more modern upscale places in Delhi.
