I booked a 6 night stay and was really looking to staying here, largely because of the location, but ended up leaving early and switching hotels. I was visiting on a solo trip in which I needed to work during the day in the room to do video meetings and whatnot. Unfortunately, a room near mine was under construction, so there was intermittent construction noise starting from the morning which woke me up and went all day. Also, the WiFi from my room was very poor and would garble the audio and video in my meetings, and sites would sometimes take >20 seconds to load. After work, I couldn’t play online games because the internet kept spiking, and Netflix wouldn’t even work for some reason. I tried talking to the front desk a few times and even tried calling World of Hyatt, and they were all unable to help in any way, so I switched to a different hotel that I already had a positive experience with and checked out 4 nights early. Thankfully, the front desk manager waived my early checkout fee. I expected far better given the cost to stay and was really disappointed.

Overpriced, difficult to enter, not clean and absurd parking arrangement. bathroom leaves a lot to be desired, tub drain blocked and necessitated call to maintenance. This is something that the cleaning staff should have noticed, which leads me to believe cleaning is not thorough. Carpets stained. Air conditioner smelled of mildew, most likely filter change well over due. Truly a neglected property.

My fiancé and I stayed here about two weekends ago to visit the aquarium and some of our other favorite places. Knowing that Midtown is relatively safer than downtown and has great restaurants staying in Midtown was a no-brainer. While Hyatt is never my first choice in hotels, I chose the Hyatt Centric Midtown because the location couldn't be beat. Upon arrival, my fiancé said that he wanted to self park his truck that was too tall for the parking deck. The attendant had us park at the bottom of the hotel's drive as if this were normal practice. We checked in with no issue and went to our corner king room that had a great view. I was assessing the cleanliness of the room, which was good, while my fiancé was assessing the small TV that looked as if it were from the early 2000s. I truly do not remember the last time I stayed in a hotel or vacation rental that didn't have a Smart TV. After getting back to our room that evening, without daylight coming through the windows, there's practically no light throughout the room and bathroom, which made me thankful I don't bother with makeup. Once we laid down, we realized that they have the hardest, lumpiest pillows ever made, I'm pretty sure you could knock someone out with one. Unfortunately, nothing about this hotel said 4 stars. The blackout shade had a huge gap, along with many tears, that let a blinding amount of light right into my face every morning, anytime the people above us used the bathroom the flushing was extremely loud, the couch was broken beyond repair, the mini fridge didn't get very cold, there were no liners in the trash cans, and the peephole glass was shattered. Also, the AC has a motion sensor on it so it doesn't matter what you set it on because it's going right back to their default if you are not moving around, which caused extremely warm nights. Since I have health issues that require I rest more than the average person, I always make sure our hotel and room are nice because we actually spend time in it. The room certainly did not reflect what is on the hotel's website by any means and is in desperate need of a remodel in every aspect. However, the worst thing was when I checked our folio to find that we were charged $150 for "oversized valet' despite never giving anyone a key and having to move the traffic poles myself each time we left and returned. The valet attendants never did anything for us, even when they saw us going to the truck. I brought it up to the man at the front desk who said it was their policy, and then he practically dismissed me. I honestly would not stay here again even if it were free.
