Lovely hotel, close to metro, seine River, Notre Dame and other tourist spots. Rooms warm, beds comfortable. Staff very very friendly and so helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again

If at all possible go someplace else. This place was disappointing. We went by Rick Steves guide because we had stayed at another place in Monmartre with the same three star rating that was much much nicer than this one. If you bring his guidebook, you can get a free breakfast, but after we saw what was for breakfast, we went somewhere else. Even for free it was not very enticing. Our view from room 304 was some metal roof tops. The room was so small that you had to walk sideways at the end of the bed (the wall had black marks all over it from what appeared to be luggage being dragged against it). The pillows were the flattest I’ve ever seen in any hotel I have stayed in. The two USB ports didn’t work and were inconveniently located anyway. The room is air-conditioned but never got really cool enough. The bathroom left a lot to be desired. There were no washcloths provided and the soap dispenser was so difficult to get soap out of that you need two hands to squeeze it to get any shower gel. The shower gel was multi purpose shampoo and hand soap. There was no conditioner provided. The shower had traces of mold and the showerhead was loose and coming out of the wall. This place was badly in need of updating and the four star rating by TripAdvisor is a joke. Don’t expect any decent coffee because it’s all instant, even that in the free breakfast. It tastes like instant hot chocolate. The guy at the front desk was very nice though. I would not go back.

We adored our stay at Hotel Castex! The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Our room was delightful and immaculate. We loved our view! The bottle of wine was such a lovely touch! The area is perfect for exploring quiet streets and dining in delectable little restaurants. It is easy to dash off to other areas on the metro. We had a perfect time in this charming hotel.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying at Hotel Castex due to several issues with cleanliness and maintenance. My wife and I stayed here for several nights during our honeymoon in the Marais neighborhood of Paris. We thought we selected a middle tier hotel, but this was a notch below. Our room (404) had mold in the shower and mold on the wall below the window. The bed had a big lump in the middle as if the mattresses were overlapping. The refrigerator was not functioning. These were the big things, but we were left with the impression that nobody is paying attention to the general maintenance needs.

The hotel looks nothing like the pictures on the site and the day time staff member was very reluctant to help with anything. The position is great, close to metro, shops and restaurants. It wasn't TERRIBLE but not at all what we expected from website and pics.
