Regular experience, personal with average service, not very keen on service. Positively they have discounts of 30% on a hop-on hop-off. The hotel facilities are very old-style, good space room however in ours the room has a strange smell, no heating and the additional blankets were dirty, no safe box available in the room. At night you can hear a lot of noise from a bar across the street (Miami). Good breakfast.

Very good location walking distance from termini train station, good shopping and eating, large and comfortable room, classic and elegant building, friendly staff. The breakfast was good enough. It is conveniently located to visit Colossum, Trevi, Transtevere etc without being in the middle of the tourist craze, we would repeat.

One of the worst hotels we’ve stayed in and far below expectations based on reviews read. It is very shabby, floorboards in the room were lifting with small nails sticking up. The buffet breakfast was also the worst we’ve had in a hotel. We complained three times that when the bath plug was released, water leaked all over the bathroom floor, water glasses left on bedside tables were never replaced with clean, tissue paper lying under the basin for several days in a row was only vacuumed up on our last day, there were ants in the bed and on the bathroom shelf, which was dirty. We had to ask for tea bags to be replaced. The TV turned off intermittently. For those with mobility issues, showering would be difficult as the shower is over the bath. We leave tomorrow morning and not a moment too soon. The only thing going for it is location.

2 Star Hotel at best

I spent a month traveling in Europe. This was the most expensive hotel I stayed in and the worst experience. The hotel advertises a 4-star experience. I have stayed in better 2-star hotels. The rooms are large, but the pictures on the website are at least 10 years old. This hotel is very run down. Our experience was not good from check-in. It seemed it was an inconvenience for the concierge to check us in. He did not tell us anything about the hotel, the surroundings or offer us one of the maps at the desk. He simply gave us the key, charged the city tax, and sent us on our way with the bellhop. He should have told us about the breakfast, how to log onto the wifi (There was a sign at the desk, but no instructiosn in the room) Problems with the room: - The floor has mildew or decay between the cracks of the hardwood (see photos) - There was a lack of towels. 2 bath sheets were provided, but the rest of the towels were starched tea towels. They were scratchy and did not absorb much water. I was at 2 other hotels in Italy and they provided regular towels, so I don't think it was a cultural difference. (see photo) - The inside of the bathroom door was filthy with years of rubbed in grime (see photo) - The shower stall had a short 3ft piece of glass on one side on the end completely open. This made the shower roomy but a terrible experience. It was cold and drafty, in addition to making it impossible not to get the room wet while showering. Which was the starchy towels did not soak up (I saved the 1 fluffy towel for my body) (see photo) - Hair dryer did not work. They sent up a replacement, but this goes to the general state of repair. - The pillows on the bed were terribly uncomfortable. They were hard compressed pillows that were about an inch thick. They should be thrown away. (see photo) - I was not given and the room did not have instructions on how to access the wifi. There was a sign at the desk, but as the concierge did not point it out, I had to return to the desk and take a picture of the sign so I could have the information in the room. Problems with the facility: - There were 2 elevator banks in the hotel, we were sent to the one to the left when we arrived. It was an old school, manual elevator. Ok, these are more common in older cities/buildings. There was no instructions, the lighting was so dim I could not see the buttons. Most people were unable to use it and used the stairs instead. I helped several people who were having difficulty. Functional, but not a 4 star experience. - The hall was disgusting and dimly lit. (see photo) I took a photo during the day as the sunlight lit the hallway, otherwise we were in the dark. As we were leaving, I noticed there was also an elevator bank to the right of the lobby. The appeared to be regular elevators as opposed to the manual elevator, I used during my stay. Maybe the rooms off this elevator are better. That would explain the wide variety of experiences described in the reviews. I did notice that all the people on my side of the hotel were native english speakers as the people headed to the other elevators were native Italian speakers.

Lovely central, spacious, clean hotel, very good value for money. Three of us shared a room, there was so much space we did not feel claustrophobic. Big shower room, clean towels daily, plenty tea and coffee in rooms. Breakfast was included and great selection of hot and cold food. Restaurant and House cleaning staff were very polite and helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
