Worst part of our 3 week trip

The hotel was very far out of central Delhi, despite leading you to believe otherwise. It took 2 hours from the train station to find it (with a very experienced driver). When we arrived, we had some food but were very disappointed; it was the worst food we ate in the 3 weeks we were in India. Later on, we asked to use the swimming pool, as this was the only reason we had booked this particular hotel. To our horror, we were told it would cost an extra 800 rupees to use the pool. This extra cost wasn’t advertised anywhere on booking websites. Later on, I ordered some Gulab Jaman from the phone in our room. 40 minutes later I called again because it had not turned up, so a member of staff said they would send it up. We then had a knock at the door saying it isn’t available today (I only stayed up because I was waiting for my desert, only to be told it wasn’t available all along). Overall, a very disappointing last night in India for us.

Most frustrating stay

Me and my friend booked this hotel to have a chilled last two days in Delhi before flying home - it has been anything but! We arrived after a long journey as the location is very far from central Delhi and no tuk tuk driver has ever heard of it. After arriving we attempted to use the pool but found it is closed during the day. A very kind staff member finally let use it after much persuasion but the pool was grimey and had pigeon feathers floating about. He seemed a lot more competent despite it being his third day. The next morning we had a tour booked in New Delhi and asked for a taxi the receptionist Mr Ballam had no clue what to do and it took 40 minutes for him to call for a taxi by which time we had missed our tour. It baffles me that a hotel near to the airport could find the task of booking a taxi so difficult. If you plan on venturing in to New Delhi do not stay here.

An honest review

I was very unhappy with my stay here. This place is more like a motel than a hotel. 3 stars is an exaggeration. More like 2. All the excellent reviews I read prior to booking now seem like they were written by the hotel staff. I arrived in the evening from the airport. My room was on the second floor, right next to the restaurant. There was absolutely no ventilation because the floor had a heavy odor of grilled meat and frying oil. I arrived to my room. The only pro was the television, and the clean bed (even though I found some black hairs on the sheet). The room was freezing. I called reception to see if there was heat, they said “give us 5 minutes, we will bring you a heater” 40 minutes later, I call the reception asking if they were still bringing it. They said they don’t even have a heater, and they will bring me an extra blanket. They could have called back and let me know. I shouldn’t have had to call again. Falling asleep was also a challenge because the walls are paper thin. I heard people’s conversations so clearly, every cough, every movement. I was exhausted and finally fell asleep and didn’t set an alarm because I wanted to sleep late. But no, the room phone rings at 8am and they tell me to come to breakfast. Excuse me? I did not request a wake up call nor a call to let me know that breakfast was being served. I tried to go back to sleep but I could not. I angrily walked to “breakfast”. The dining area was a joke. A piece of loose wood on the floor. I sit down and they bring me a water. Then I wait for a menu? Or for them to ask me what I want? Because there was no buffet. Finally, I flagged someone down and asked for a coffee and asked what’s for breakfast. They said “stuffed bread”. I said I’ll just have some toast. 20 minutes later he brings my coffee. The coffee looked like instant coffee, with grinds floating on top and milk already inside. I did not ask for milk. I said never mind and was so annoyed I just went back to my room and didn’t drink or eat breakfast. This hotel is basically a slight upgrade from a hostel. I’ve been in India for two weeks and this was my worst hotel experience.
