Ill-maintained hotel lacking basic services and facilities

Only good thing about this hotel: location, working individual room geyser. The rooms are way beyond old and ill-maintained. There is no electric kettle, complimentary tea bag, milk powder, coffee powder. Kitchen does not open before 8am. Hence, if you want even hot water at 7am, you would not get it. Food: below terribleness. They served stale, cold boiled eggs. Even after repeated reminder they served spicy daal, and, a repeated request of non-spicey daal yielded only a lesser spicey version of the same. My kids could not eat. Just tried fried rice, red coloured oily substance with occasional visuals of meat pieces. Initially the room was offered, was dampy and small. A request yielded a better one, though small, but, not dampy. Not sure why showed the worser room at the first go. We requested for extra matress and linen. They were so dirty, could not use it. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I am surprised how come these kind of hotels are even listed under booking websites.

I am writing this review after staying here for three continuous days. We were total of 5 people in a group, and i must say, everything in this hotel was perfect. From the staff to the food, everything was up to the mark. Personal recommendations - The chef and his food is just awesome, even the hospitality of every team member in the hotel staff. Thus, 5 star rating from our side. - If you are visiting shimla, then Hotel Auckland can be the best option for you. - Last, the best & affordable hotel with professional staff, mouthwatering foods. Those who visit Shimla must stay at Hotel Auckland. Working from mountains is fun when you are served with scrumptious food on time, masala tea and frothy coffee to reactivate yourself. Walk to Mall road after work to get the lively feel and to get renergised and help burn extra calories. Dinner with soft music under the sheet of stars takes you to top of the world and gives you an intense feel. Clean rooms and bathrooms make the stay all the more satisfying. Wonderful week spent! Visited hotel Aukland 5 years back and now recently in August .There is a sea change in this hotel where rooms and bathrooms are completely renovated. The restaurant serves food with great taste. Location was already a plus here being at a walking distance from Mall road. It's taken over by a large group which is into hotel/catering line of business. Would strongly recommend for couples, families, solo travellers, explorers etc.
