tourist trap.dont book here.they scam you after reservation online then canceling you last minute.i even called internationally to talk to a person to hold reservation and ended up with a canceled room when checking in.so we were left without a choice but to bite the bullet and check in with additional $$$ charges.hostess was not trustworthy.reofferred the same room after she said she canceled it.at first it was not available, then she reordered it after I made the payment.what a group of scammers! it was nice location though.it was clean and close to boqueria and metro.

Cancelled reservation since they wanted more money!

I booked via hotels.com and after a few hours got an email that my reservation was cancelled due to a credit card error. That seemed weird because the card cleared with hotels.com and also the hotel was not supposed to try and bill as it was a "pay at hotel" reservation. I called them and at first they said it's a credit card issue - when I explained to them that it can't be, they changed their version and said that the hotel was not accepting reservations for the month I asked for. When I confronted them that it is open in all the booking sites, they said that there was a "price error", when I asked what does that mean, they said that there's a congress in town (MWC) and the price I booked did not match... (meaning they just wanted to get more for the room!) And indeed the room was now listed for double the price.. after talking to hotels.com - they spoke with the hotel, and the hotel took down th availability (probably to support their claim that it was not taking bookings for that month)! While I understand that prices can fluctuate - once a booking has been confirmed, to cancel it is a breach of trust - and I thought that hotels.com should do something - but to my surprise they did not provide any real help. So, if you don't want your reservation to suddenly get cancelled for no reason, don't book this hotel.

Great value, knocked down for 25 steps to walk up

First off, it is a very good value. Not expensive, very good location, and they have someone available 24 hours, and clean, basic room, with small bathroom, but nice powerful (though small) shower. The negative is as I wrote, very basic room, and really not much room to be in, no view at all, at least from our room. I would have given 4 stars based on the value though, as it is so inexpensive. Where they lose 2 stars is to get to reception, you need to go up 25 steps from the street level. If it is any other establishment like going to a restaurant, not a big deal. However, when it is a hotel, and everyone has suitcases that can easily be 30-45 pounds each, not fun. Add in a bad knee, and it is ridiculous. Something like that, they should have posted on their main page to let a traveler know, then it is up to them if it is a big deal or not. With my bad knee, and the fact then that my wife and daughter had to lug up their suitcase, as I had the bigger one by far, and had the issue, it is something that had I (or others) known prior, may very well have selected another hotel. Or at least let people know in the confirmation, and offer to bring luggage up if needed. They offered to on the way out, but really, not needed going down 25 steps as opposed to up it.

Basic hotel at a very good location

You would consider this hotel only because this is within your budget and because of its excellent location at Las Ramblas. It is a few steps from La Boqueria market, and it is just a few minutes' walk to Gothic Quarters and the Liceu Metro Station. There are many restaurants, souvenir shops, boutiques and peddlers nearby so the streets outside the hotel are always bustling with people and activities. One thing to note is the reception is one floor above street level and the lift starts from there only. Which means, you would definitely need to carry your luggage up/down two flights of steps in order to access/leave the hotel. For sure, this is not for people with limited mobility. The room is very basic, not for the Fussies. Beds are decent, but I think mattress, pillows and blankets are considered thin. Shower is good - water pressure and heater worked well - with shower gel and shampoo only. No other toiletries so bring your own. The aircon wasn't working - if we on it, only hot air blew out. So we were thankful that we didn't stay there during summer! We survived the stuffiness in the room for 2 nights with a small opening from our window. I guess we were too tired from our walking to dwell on this. The TV is of the smallest size available in this era and images are not clear with frequent signal disruption. Sound system is non-existent. Our TV is mounted near the ceiling so even if the room is twice as large, many people can view the screen from all corners of the room, but better with binoculars. Not sure about the hotel safety because we actually didn't feel threatened at all. But there would always be some dubious characters hanging out along the streets at the hotel entrance so you would need to be vigilant going in and out of the hotel, and especially if you arrive late at night. The room door felt abit filmsy, as if it would open with just a strong kick from outside. So we would always put our valuables in our luggage and lock it. Despite everything, which I think is within expectations of a 2-star hotel or hostal, what I like most about this hotel is that staff is very helpful, efficient and friendly. My emails to the hotel were always being responded promptly and clearly, within the hour. Sometimes, this is very useful and crucial even, when planning for your trip. We had to make some last minute arrangements and the hotel was accommodating. Map of city was also provided upon check-in.

We had only stayed for two of our four night booking when we decided Las Flores was so good we just had to add another 4 nights to our stay. It is not the Hilton but for the what the charge is excellent value is offered. This place is clean, well looked after and improvements are being made all the time. When you book ask for a room with a balcony overlooking Las Rambla. It might be a little noisy but the atmosphere is so valuable. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful and in fact go out of thier way to assist. Like most people treat them with respect and courtesy and it will be returned.
