We stayed here in October 2023. We did not have any real expectations ahead of our stay - but were completely blown away with this place. The hotel really is Grand from the moment you approach it. Staff are super friendly and check in was an ease. Good selection at breakfast and the hotel itself is situated in a convenient location. We are frequent guests at the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton hotels and the rooms, service and infrastructure here was on par. We would highly recommend the Grand Mayfull.

I had to cancel my hotel reservation due to the earthquake that hit Taiwan. My flight was scheduled the day of the earthquake and I could not fly into Taipei. I contacted the hotel to advise of the situation. As a 5-star hotel, I would have assumed they would have either waived their cancellation fee or made an attempt to find a solution given the unfortunate circumstances. Instead, this hotel decided to charge me a $700 cancel fee. For those of you trying to decide if this hotel is right for you, I’d strongly advise against it. Read all of the 1-star reviews the hotel has and book elsewhere. Taipei has lots of options. I’ve stayed in several high end hotels in Taipei and wanted to give this hotel a try. It was definitely the wrong decision. Be careful booking here because all of the 1-star reviews describing the terrible customer service are spot on. I’m looking forward to the generic response that this review will probably get from the hotel thanking me for my feedback and valuing my opinion. I’m sure there will be a “sincere apology.” Pretty easy to offer empty words and apologies after money was already collected.

This hotel is nothing less than five stars! My family and I had an amazing time here; this hotel is the absolute best. The location is perfect. It is between two train stations and Ubikes on every corner, or they will get you a cab. I cannot stress enough how the Grand Mayfull has the absolute best staff. If I ever return to Taipei, or if anyone asks me for recommendations, without hesitation, I would say the Grand Mayfull Hotel. Their breakfast and dinner are nothing short of amazing - I could not have picked a better hotel.

Beware of the taxi drivers

We got a taxi from Taipei Main train station to Grand Mayfull Hotel. I had data roaming and I turned on my Location Services and noticed that the taxi driver took a long route to the hotel. I screenshot my Google Maps, every so often along the way, to show he did take a long route to the hotel. He charged us 360 TWD (11.65 USD). When we checked out, on the way back to the train station, it only cost us 240 TWD (7.75 USD) (this time we asked for a receipt at the beginning of our journey - to subtlety tell the taxi driver not to pull a fast one). So the taxi driver, to the hotel, overcharged us by 50% When we got off, at the hotel, we asked the taxi driver for a receipt then he said his meter printing the receipt was “broken” (!). The hotel staff opened the door of the taxi and I told them, the taxi driver took a longer route and showed them my screenshots. The hotel staff kindly phoned the taxi company to complain and the taxi company said they would talk to the taxi driver. Nothing happened after that. Tbh I didn’t expect anything to happen and we’re only taking about 11.65 USD vs 7.75 USD - but not a nice welcome to Taipei As to the hotel itself, it is located in a quiet neighbourhood, and quite a number of MRT stops away from the centre of the city. There is a nice shopping mall called Miramar about a 10 min walk, with lots of restaurants, and would advise you also go here for the nearest Jiannan Rd MRT stop. There is Dazhi MRT stop (maybe a bit closer to the hotel) but the walk is not so nice as the pavement is quite narrow and winding. Apart from the mall, there’s not that much places of interest around the hotel We booked Executive King Room and I didn’t like the proportion of the room. The bathroom+walk-in closet is as big as the room with bed/sofa/desk. I rather have a bigger bed/sofa/desk room and smaller bathroom. Also I didn’t like the bathroom has the toilet, past the bath, but there is no door between the toilet and bath. This means 1 person cannot use the toilet and 1 person use the bath without seeing each other! Our room included Breakfast but it wasn't to a standard I expect of this hotel. We stayed for 4 nights and basically everyday the food was the same and subpar. OK one day there maybe a blueberry puff pastry and the next day it is strawberry. The curry was the same everyday (lentil curry) - it was quite heavy tasting. Also their croissants were quite sweet. Their congee was like watery rice. Their One-Michelin star restaurant called Mipon, was much better. We ordered one of their set menus (about 200 USD for 2 persons) and we were very full and can see why it was awarded one-star. Nearby the Miramar mall there is a Three-Michelin star restaurant called Tairroir but I don’t think Tairroir is worth the price (although I enjoyed the environment and service more than Mipon) - I rather go Mipon! If we stay in Taipei again, think we will stay a bit more centrally. Also a good lesson learnt from this trip is when getting a taxi is asking for the receipt at the beginning of the journey!

Service staff at the breakfast venue started clearing our table without asking if we were done. Did not allow my 3 year old boy to leave the restaurant with a packet of apple juice. I paid for service but did not get any. I will not return to this hotel again.
