My husband and I had to make a quick change to our original booked hotel in Lisbon which was a disappointing room. The Aurea got us a room immediately. Even though our first room wasn't exactly what we were hoping for, the next day the staff made sure to get us in a suite that was bright, airy and overlooked the water. It was large and comfortable. The restuarant was closed for dinner but the breakfast was excellent and included. What made our stay so wonderful was purely the staff that helped us. I had a spill on one of the roads and they brought me ice and were very helpful with reservations, etc. These are the staff that made our stay really nice. David, Leo, Catarina, Giulerme, Janet, Adriano, Janet & Soraia. Thank you to these outstanding staff, some even in training. My only complaint was we had a hard time getting extra coffee pods. The night staff told us we were charged for them when that was not in fact the truth, but at check out they told us that was not the case. The hotel sits close to where the cruise ships come in but we had an outstanding view of the sea. It is located right below the Alfama district which is the oldest neighborhood and has Fado music in the evenings and some cool shops and gorgeous views.

Early flight arrival and this hotel checked us right in..nice quiet room, they sent complimentary wine and a pastry nata ..we did a nice walking tour of the city and walked to dinner from here . Hospitable and kind . Room has robes and fridge and coffee . Loved the bathtub!! Maybe a few more towels and fingertip towels in bath. Thank you so much

Would like to rate higher but it really wasn't anything special. Shiny inside with lots of marble, glass, and steel but not special. The pool use cost is $50 cdn. for 1 hour use. You were not permitted to change the room temperature which was locked at 25 C. The hair dryer and coffee machine in room worked intermittently. They came to restock & make up the room at very odd hours such as 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 4 p.m. or not at all. This got problematic with towels and toilet paper as we were a triple room outfitted for 2. Room service is frowned upon and an order of coffee, tea and croissants each day may or may not make it to you. Unfortunately, the restaurant is currently only serving a light breakfast at $50 per person cdn., and receiving take-out is not permitted unless the delivery person waits outside the hotel for you to meet with and pickup. The museum part of the hotel was disappointing in that you had to pay extra to see the exhibits. In terms of the staff their attitude was all over the place. Sometimes friendliness, then on edge, next distant, over to jittery or rude. It wasn't just to us but seemed to be the norm. Only the night person behind the desk seemed to be holding it together. Overall I think we could have done better with our vacation $ for accommodations but based on the reviews it seemed like a good choice at time of booking.

We had a terrific experience at this hotel. While we were at our Airbnb, trying to check in, they canceled on us and claimed there was a water issue at the apartment. Frustrated, we found the Aurea hotel and talked to Joana, who was an incredible help to us. She got us some rooms, even with a water view and patio, at such late notice and took complete care of us during the check in. The rest of the staff was also very nice and the Roman ruins were a very fun tour that came as a bonus to the typical hotel experience. I would definitely stay again if I had the chance.
