Great apartment for family trip

This was a great apartment for a family sightseeing trip to Edinburgh. The apartments are in a great location and as a family of 5, was perfect. 2 bedrooms with a sofa bed in the lounge. It suited us perfectly. The apartment was clean and fully operational, with 1 full bathroom and 1 shower room, great for us. Would definitely stay here again.

I can start by saying we will 100% be back! Myself and my wife stayed over Christmas and we wanted to make sure we were in a good location meaning we could enjoy the city and not have to worry about driving, finding parking etc. The apartments are easy to find, and we booked parking in advance which was a short walk away from the apartment at £20 per night. Expensive on top of the cost of the apartment but convenient and just the price you expect pay in a city like Edinburgh. When we arrived we was a little early for the keypad 3pm entry, however a staff member was leaving the building and after showing him our booking he let us in early which was great. I really love the convivence of a keypad check in/check out and if you did have any issues (doubt it) the office was a short walk away. The apartment was immaculately clean, with a large living/dinning area and big bedroom and lovely big shower which had lovely shampoo and body lotions. The facilities in the apartment were excellent with a fully functioning kitchen for us to make dinner on Christmas day. The only things missing which we think would be a good addition was frying pans for breakfast, and a salt and pepper shaker as its not something you would think to bring. The apartment had old windows and the weather meant, the windows rattled we made a make shift wedge to stop this on the second day but would recommend a more permanent option as it did keep us awake. The location was amazing, right near Princes Street, loads of great bars and restaurants such as Rosa Thai Kitchen and cocktails such as the Panda & Sons and Lucky Liquor. It was also only a walk away from the famous Christmas Market. Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Destiny Scotland, we will be back next time we visit Edinburgh and will be recommending the apartments to my clients, friends & family.

Too noisy below

The apartments are clean and functional albeit very drab and sterile looking. For the cost of the nightly stay I would expect to be able to sleep. It seems as though there were students parties across the road both nights we stayed until 5am. Thanks to single sash windows (probably due to listing) didn’t help. We’d probably get just as much sleep next to a Halls of residence. We’re absolutely knackered.

Beautiful apartment but the noise was terrible

We booked this apartment for my birthday week and to visit the Christmas market etc. The apartment was huge and well maintained and close to everything we absolutely loved the apartment - however the windows were paper thin and the noise from the pub goers would be so loud that my kids and I had to just stay up until 3 am so we could go to sleep. We didn’t have one night of peace ( not the apartments fault but some window upgrades to try to silence that noise would be great) also the heat in the living room wasn’t working that well but overall great apartment. I personally couldn’t stay there again because I’m a light sleeper but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s a great base.

We booked fairly late and even though I checked my spam filter I didn't receive precise directions for the apartment and parking space that I'd booked, nor did I receive the code for entry. Still, someone answered my call quickly and we were able to enter. The key code did make it simple for us to come and go and I enjoyed that. Echoing someone else's review, the main front door did close with an almighty noise which made us very worried about disturbing those on the ground floor. The apartment itself is very clean, beautiful, spacious and well designed. I felt that there were some little niggles starting though and the furniture starting to look a little tired. The doors on the wardrobe didnt seem to want to shut properly and the mirror was taped at the top. The beds weren't particularly comfortable and felt cheap. The internet was atrocious, kept dropping out and patchy, to the point that we stopped bothering and switched to using data. A call to the destiny team only resulted in them saying that normally there isnt an issue, however there was for us the whole time we were there. The biggest issue was the lack of hot water - there was none at all! To be fair on the team we only realised this a couple of hours before check-out and we had only been booked for a one night stay so there was no point them trying to fix it on a Sunday morning. I do hope they fixed it for the next people. They did apologise. The area around is great and I was pleased we were staying there. There seemed to be a good choice of restaurants and bars nearby and the area felt safe. Overall a good spot for sightseeing from and for a family of 4 it was good value.
