Catalonia Magdalenes was the perfect spot to stay. We walked everywhere, even the Plaça de España train station, Parc Montjuic and Sagrada Familia. (Too far to walk to Parc Guëll!) It is close to the Barcelona Cathedral, Picasso Museum, Palau de la Música and right around the corner from the 4 Cats restaurant. (Restaurant good; tapas: meh.) There are many dining options nearby. Their sister hotel, Catalonia Cathedral, is a few blocks away and has an excellent restaurant. All staff at Catalonia Magdalenes were wonderfully helpful. Make sure to sign up for the breakfast with your room. They offer a delicious selection of hot and cold foods, available until noon each day. We had room 211, which was a nice distance from the elevators and very comfortable and quiet. The window looked out into the courtyard below. Room seating was limited to a desk chair and a built-in padded window bench, but that was enough. The TV allowed Chromecast, which we found isn’t always an option in European hotels. We were very happy with our hotel choice!

Spent two nights at this wonderful hotel with friends. It's in a great position. The whole interior (and exterior!) is tasteful and well kept. Delicious breakfast. Amazing roof top bar (which was surprisingly well priced). The thing that sets this hotel above others is, as many have said, the staff. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and kind. Can't wait to return.

Found this hotel on line while planning a trip to Barcelona after a transatlantic cruise. Booked four nights. Perfect location in the Gothic quarter. We were treated with excellent care and attention from the moment we checked in. Front desk staff were all extremely professional and helpful each and every time we interacted with them. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and clean and supplied with everything we needed except washcloths. No washcloths..found that a bit interesting for such a nice hotel. But, no worries about that. If you add breakfast to your room (and I suggest you do), you will find it well stocked with cold and warm items along with fresh cooked eggs (your way) and toasties if you wish. I think a special recognition is due to one staff member that really made our stay special…I will just call him the “birdman” who helps every way possible with your bags, a tour of your room, directions, taxis, etc. Delightful. He even walked us out the hotel to show us how to get to a nearby bar/restaurant (The 4 Cats). As we walked out he said “step into my Farrari and I’ll drive you…and proceeded to ack like he was driving. Why the “birdman”? Because he can make incredibly real bird sounds! They really are good and could definitely fool you. Anyway…such a positive person and a real joy to interact with. This was my first experience with a Catalonia Hotel. It will not be my last.

Loved this hotel. Staff is all wonderful. So clean, so fresh and so convenient! Sara at the rooftop bar is the absolute best. She made our trip so much fun! Knowledgeable, friendly and always a smile. She is the best of the best. We loved her. Highly recommended!

The Catalonia Magdalenes is a wonderful hotel in a great location in the Gothic area. We arrived in the morning after disembarking from a cruise and were greeted by Pablo and Joshua with a glass of champagne and were delighted that our rooms were ready. Joshua went above and beyond the call by going to the busy street near the hotel to summon a taxi for us. In addition, he walked us to a restaurant about a block away to make sure we knew which one he recommended, which we later went to and it was quite good. Pablo was also very helpful with giving us directions and recommendations. The hotel is well appointed and very clean with a very friendly staff. I recommend the Catalonia Magdelenes for it's well-appointed rooms, friendly and helpful staff and great location.
