If you want to be kept up by people smoking and coughing up lungs all night this is the hotel for you! These are other guests at the hotel. It seems they don't enforce the rules here. Why does the bathroom have nothing to stop the water from getting the toilet area completely soaked. There is also no counter space in the bathroom. The bedding also doesn't fit the single bed(feels like I'm sleeping in a single kids bed from Ikea). No toiletries provided, and no coffee maker (they provided instant coffee) I know this isn't an expensive hotel but it feels like a motel 6 in the USA. we have another 14 or so nights here. Amsterdam has been great. Only good thing it's close to transit and getting downtown. Would not recommend anyone stay here. Wish I could get refunded/moved rooms for how bad this is. This is insane. We came here as this is the country my father is from and he wanted to show us his country and where he grew up before moving to Canada. He's 76 years old and spent a good amount of money to bring us here(he also suffers from Parkinson's and Alzheimer's). I'm not sure how quiet times work for hotels in The Netherlands but smoking outside the Hotel entrance, within 5 metres from midnight till 4 AM is a bit unreasonable. Walk down the street and be courteous to others around you. Worst experience I've had in awhile. We all work hard for our money and this 2 week trip cost us close to $9400 Canadian. For some that's pocket change but for ordinary people it's not. Do better. This should not carry the Best Western name. Update: hotel manager is very friendly and tried to fix any issues we had. Still would recommend paying a bit more, have walked the area and seems to be some higher rated hotels around with much better rooms. For a short stay this would be fine but for extended 2 weeks like we are staying I would recommend going elsewhere.

We loved everything about our stay. Reception were lovely, especially the young guy with the Harry Potter glasses. He was a cheery helpful young man. You can walk one block and get the tram straight to the city centre or any other famous landmarks. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable. Great hot shower and comfy bed.

Front desk staff are a mixed bag. Some are helpful, some seem like high schoolers snickering in their desks making fun of guests. Room had a window that faced in INTERIOR of the building, so we never knew the weather etc. It's not very close to anything, other reviews boast how.closw the tram is (and it is!).but it's still a good ride away feom anything. We stayed in Zaan and it was closer to Central Station that here. The rooms had clean towels put on unmade beds and they didn't replace dirty coffee cups. It was confusing. Breakfast is €19.50, but there is a grocery center within a 3.min walk. We felt safe, it was clean, but we stayed in Zaans and Zaans Schans and it was better, staff were better, Breakfast was included and rooms were better.

The hotel is outside of city center, but only pretty 5 minute walk to the main metro line where you can buy a daily pass for very cheap, and the mero is very effective, easily the best way to get around. The front desk is so kind, accomidating, and helps answer any questions you have. They actually provided us a map and pointed out areas of interest, explained how to get to each, and made amazing recomendations. The main lobby has snacks, drinks, a coffee machine that makes lates and espresso, and a pizza oven which was AMAZING!!! So when we came in late we didnt have to worry about being starving. The hotel also has a restuaraunt which served good drinks and food for a reasonable price if you needed something quick. The rooms are in great condition, with a large space and clean updated bathroom. Although the view is not of the 'city' for the price, you can't beat the comofort and cleanliness. Highly recommend and would stay there again!
