Hotel was fantastic, Very clean, great location, just a short walk from Roma termini train and metro station All the desk staff were great, friendly, very helpful, nothing was to much trouble for them, always with a smile. Breakfast was top quality. We had to leave very early in the morning 3 of the 4 days before breakfast started so we were provided with breakfast boxes to go, which was fantastic. The one morning we were able to make use of the breakfast buffet, was fantastic. Great choice of food and again the staff were excellent. Some lovely family run restaurants around the corner for evening meals. Did not experience any of the problems that some reviews we read prior to going. Would definitely go back next time we visit Rome.

Great value and close to the train station. We loved the staff! They were attentive and made us feel welcome! The breakfast on the rooftop terrace was great with a variety of fruit and food. The rooms were meticulously clean and comfortable. There's some restaurants within walking distance. We were able to get taxis and/or Uber rides to the more central attractions in the city. I would definitely stay again!

The team was an excellent crew from front desk to Breakfast crew. Kind , helpful and courteous in every way possible and a beautiful garden and terrace area throughout the property. A great place to stop and relax when traveling to other European Destinations. Would recommend to all.

I use Trip Advisor for an honest opinion and help in determining where I book a room. I am sorry that I cannot recommend the Ateneo Garden Palace, especially to any women traveling alone. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful but the air conditioning did not work at all. We were there during the extreme heat of summer and the AC would drop the temperature in the room a couple of degrees at best. In the breakfast room, guests were discussing taking cold showers at three in the morning trying to get some sleep. The beds were hard and the pillows even harder. But most importantly the location was terrible. All around the hotel was litter, filth and homeless encampments. The hotel is less than an mile to the train station and the University but there were no worthwhile activities or restaurants in the area. I spent a fortune each day on taxis. Even if one was able to walk to sites, most would not feel safe doing so. I understand price is an important consideration, but I really cannot recommend this hotel.

It feels like the Hotel was once a four star hotel that has been left to run down. The rooms are spacious, and you could see that once they would have looked good, but our room had mould and maintenace issues. There are some things out of the control of the hotel, such as a homeless camp across the road, but police visited them on our second last day, and they were not a problem after that. It does feel unsafe around the area however. Air conditioning is a point of contention, as Italy does have some restrictions on how low you can set your thermostat. However, the air conditioning couldn't even reach that temperature, being 28*C in the late evening, meaning we couldn't sleep until we bought a fan. The hotel couldn't provide one. This was the most important failure for me. What is a hotel for but a place to sleep? Like another reviewer pointed out, be aware that if you ask them to call a taxi, the driver pays the hotel a kickback and then charges you a surcharge. We paid €70 to the airport, when a flat fare should be €50. Other than that, the hotel was fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, the included breakfast was nice, though fairly simple. It's a short walk to restaurants and a moderate walk to the station. If you are not visiting during the hotter months, and are not fearful of your safety, it's a reasonably priced mid range hotel. However, our stay was marred somewhat by the maintenance issues and the weak air conditioning.
