Very disappointing stay for our anniversary

We booked a room here for an anniversary trip to Chicago to see a show. While the hotel was convenient to the theater district, it was a disappointment from the moment we walked into our room. It smelled like a dog or cat had just been in the room, which we decided to overlook. The room was a little shabby and needs updating. But the biggest complaint is that we were awakened every hour on the hour until after 3 am by a drunken group of guys pounding on doors and yelling at the top of their voices. Around 1 am I had had enough and called the front desk. They said they would send security up. The noise continued for hours past that. I had a terrible night’s sleep. Upon checkout I politely informed the front desk person (who was very sweet) and she apologized and offered us a complimentary breakfast which we had already had, given vouchers upon arrival. She also gave us waters and popcorn. We felt that this was insufficient compensation for a disrupted unpleasant stay in a room that we paid almost $400 for. Those guests should have been asked to leave, and there should have been some money taken off of our bill. Needless to say it would take a lot to get us to return.

Awesome location and room! We stayed 5 days at your property and truly enjoyed it. Room was outstanding on the river front. We enjoyed your lobby bar on 4 occasions. Everyone was great except Friday evening we had a bartender named Chris serve us. One of the worst, sadly kinda ruined the start. Zero personality and weak cocktails. The topper was he added an additional cocktail to the check. I addressed it and he basically went off. Zero support. Zero tip😂 Seriously a joke..

My wife and I just recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at the Chicago Renaissance. Prior to the date I reached out to John Alcott to help with some dinner reservations and our stay. Not only did John get us into the impossible restaurants, he went out of his way to ensure everything around our stay was perfect!!!! Our room was a dream come true & made us feel like VIP's!!!! I'd like to thank John and the entire staff at the Renaissance for making our anniversary a complete success!!! We feel blessed to have a hotel we call home. John, Joey, & Jose always welcome us and go out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our only regret is leaving...... Looking forward to our next stay & many great years visiting Chicago at the Renaissance. Again, thank you for making our special day even more special than we could have dreamed.

Great Business Hotel, Not Family Friendly

Went with the family and I'll say that this hotel is geared for the business traveler. If this is you, you'll enjoy your stay. If you're travelling with family, this may not be the place. Pros: 99% of the staff from valet, front desk, and housekeeping, were very professional and courteous; made you feel like a higher-star hotel. Small unexpected perks added to the experience. Rooms were clean and well laid out (but city-typical small). Cons: I found their Staytion eatery to be a letdown. Prices changed while we were there ($4 Croissant went to $6, etc.); older prices still written on boards weren't honored. The Staytion associates were probably the least professional; not sure they knew how to make coffee, which is compounded by the higher than Starbucks prices. I will call out Santiago as he provided great service. But the two women who worked the barista/grab-n-go were sub-par. The lobby is very dark; I think it was probably trying to do double duty as it also houses the after-hours bar. We picked the hotel mainly because it had an indoor pool. But it was barely heated and was rather cold. The pool was dirty, and the walls had peeling paint and water stains. A reno is really needed there.

Very nice hotel, great location, nice river views and two good bars. Restaurant made a great breakfast and the staff were very helpful. Only downside was they no longer have a hot tub. You will have a twenty five dollar per day mandatory charge that then becomes a credit at the restaurant and one of the bars. Not a huge deal but feels like a bit of an arm twist. Overall a great long weekend destination.
