My favourite hotel in Berlin for over a decade. Its still a grand old stylish hotel. But things are starting to look little tired. The rooms have stayed the same for a very long time now. Even the maintanence is pretty good i would say its time for a renovation soon to keep up the standard for the future. Gym & pool on the roof. Pretty good, but gym very busy during my stay now. Service level in front desk & in Vox bar was a big let down this time. The bartender with lots of tatoos in the lobbybar was very helpfull. Location super.

I had a great trip to The Grand Hyatt in Berlin. Upon checkin, I found out I had been upgraded to a suite and there was a note in my suit written out to me. Everything was clean and the food was great. All the staff were very friendly and responsive to my needs.

If anyone has seen the “pretty woman” film you’ll know what I mean when I say, “I don’t think we have anything in your size “. This was the vibe in this hotel. I like to give a balanced view. Positives; , beautiful hotel, lovely rooms, comfy beds, nice bathroom, great location. The rest is negative. With one exception, the reception staff are rude and clearly think they are better than the guests staying there ; whispering about people and ignoring customers. After asking if we could check in one hour early they said no, they’d call us when the room was ready. We asked where could we go in the meantime for food/drinks. They said there was nothing really nearby? We walked two minutes and found lots of nice little restaurants and bars so we thought this was bizarre that they’d said there was nothing nearby. The staff were more interested in upselling an overpriced breakfast than actually helping. When we finally checked in (they never called to say the room was ready ) a grumpy person (not naming her on here publicly but will email the Hyatt separately) she handed the key and did not say a word. Not a word! I have never stayed in any hotel where they did not utter a word. Very very odd and rude. We then got a call from reception to say we were talking too loud (we are two women in our 50s who haven’t seen each other in a year, we had no tv or music on). A stupid customer had complained. This is where the one and only wonderful reception chap (Panos from Athens) redeemed the terrible experience we’d had. He was so sweet to us and gave us a little glass of wine to apologise. He didn't have to do that and it meant such a lot. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves. The rest of the reception staff should take a leaf out of his book. We had a drink at the VOX bar the next day. Very weird quiet whispery vibe but a lovely barman from Copenhagen served us and was chatty and lovely. When we left we had two overpriced crappy take away coffees ( euro 16!) which just summed up our stay. I was utterly disappointed with this place and will never stay at Hyatt again. Apart from lovely Copenhagen guy (who was leaving as he hated it) and lovely Panos, the service was a disgrace. All the people in the hotel who were nice to us were from other places. Give your money to a hotel that deserves your custom. This is a good option if you're a tourist wanting to be able to walk to the main sites in central Berlin. Very subpar restaurant options nearby. You will be choked by tons of cigar smoke on the outside patio. The front desk staff were not friendly, and were clearly annoyed when I asked if the hotel wifi was down. The beds were comfy, and the blackout curtain was great but my room smelled like a smoker had stayed there before me, when I entered. I wouldn't stay here again and would opt for a more boutique hotel with kinder staff.

it was an excellent base from which to explore Berlin, although we never ate in the restaurant in the evening. More information about 'The Club' would have been useful.
