Cleartrip goes paperless – launches Passbook support

Thrilled to be the first and only Indian travel portal taking a small, but meaningful step towards propagating a paperless, greener planet, Cleartrip announces support for Passbook. Save the planet, turn paperless with passes for all your Cleartrip flight, hotel and train bookings, in your smartphone.

Excited about supporting Passbook, Cleartrip Co-founder Hrush Bhatt said, “At Cleartrip, we’ve always been very conscious about promoting judicious use of paper. It began as early as designing e-tickets that fit into a single sheet of paper, when printed. And starting today, we’re thrilled to be supporting Passbook, because we see it as our little contribution towards going green.”

Sticking to Cleartrips’ trademark simplicity, the neatly designed Cleartrip passes display important information about the trip upfront, with additional details on the reverse side. With location and time-based Passbook notifications, the passes automatically pop-up on the smartphone’s screen, ready for use just when they’re needed.

All confirmation emails sent by Cleartrip will now have a pass file attached in addition to the PDF ticket. Additionally, passes are also available from within the Cleartrip Account through a desktop or mobile browser.

Passes have been designed to conform to Apple guidelines and are available for iPhone and iPod Touch devices running iOS6 or higher and any Mac running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2 or later). These passes are also supported on Android through third-party apps like PassWallet and other third-party apps with Passbook support available from the Google Play store.

Passbook support is our tiny step towards reducing the carbon footprint on this planet. And we hope we encourage you to do that too.

Note: Flight passes cannot currently be used as a substitute for a printed boarding pass.
