Cleartrip selects Galileo as its preferred technology partner

Leading GDS to distribute, manage and book travel management services for Cleartrip

Mumbai-based online travel agent (OTA) Cleartrip has partnered Galileo, a Travelport global distribution systems (GDS) provider represented by InterGlobe Technology Quotient (ITQ) in India, as its preferred GDS provider. The alliance will come into immediate effect and will provide Cleartrip with one of the world’s largest offering of travel products as well as back-office solutions for the online agency to improve productivity, efficiency and analyse booking data.

Cleartrip has selected Galileo Web Services 2.0 solution, part of a suite of professional services that are easy to use and cost effective. Galileo Web Services requires no additional software installation and provides direct access to Galileo travel content and functionality. Its distribution solutions offer more than 429 airlines, of which some 75 are low cost carriers (LCCs), 87,000 hotel properties and 25 car rental firm and integrate shopping, pricing, booking and ticketing used by online travel agents.

The online travel market in India has grown rapidly in the last three years. According to travel industry intelligence firm, PhoCus Wright, OTAs currently hold a 21% marketshare of the travel market and expect double digit growth in 2010. In dollar terms, the online travel market is estimated to be worth around US$3.1 billion.
