Ingrained with Rajasthan’s famous ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’ (welcome to my home) attitude, the locals of Sikar will offer you the best hospitality of their region. Earlier known as ‘Nehrawati’ or ‘Beer Bhan Ka Bass’, the town of Sikar has benefitted in the past from being home to several kings from the Shekhawat dynasty. Wander the town and you will come across numerous temples, monuments, forts, antique frescos and gardens–all examples of the exquisite taste of Sikar's royalty. Almost every king of Sikar was known for his love of painting, culture, religion and architecture. Ancient havelis (palaces), known for their grandeur, are scattered throughout the town. The golden frescos on the walls of Madhav Niwas Kothi promise to captivate every guest. Surrounded by imposing walls with seven gates, Sikar is best experienced during an early, soothing winter season.
Laxmangarh is famous for its eponymous fort which sits on top of a hill. Built by Rao Raja Laxman Singh Ji, this fort reminds tourists of Sikar’s royal legacy with a collection of handicrafts and huge paintings.
Not far from the city is Khatushyamji Temple. Dedicated to Lord Krishna, this temple is associated with many ancient legends and finds mention in the epic Mahabharata. Apart from its pleasing white marble architecture, there is also a charming garden within the complex. February to March is the period when Khatushyamji Temple sees a lot of activities. The temple hosts a fair that includes a display of local handicrafts, music and folk dance forms.
The village of Jeenmata is home to a famous temple dedicated to a local deity. The temple is believed to be at least 1,000 years old. Constructed in the usual Rajputana architectural style, it has 24 pillars with different figures carved on each. Navratri brings a large crowd of devotees each year.
The village of Ganeshwar surprises tourists with its hot Sulfur springs, known to cure various skin ailments, and ruins of millennia-old civilization.
Auto-rickshaws and private taxis can be hired while in Sikar. The town is conveniently located between Agra and Bikaner on National Highway 11. Luxury buses and taxis run from Sikar to Jaipur, Bikaner, Delhi and Jodhpur.

By road Sikar is surrounded by Kuchaman City, Jhunjhunun, Ratangarh which are 36.69 km, 39.12 km, 45.3 km away respectively. These places are ideal spots for people to plan their short weekend break.
