One of the oldest British controlled districts in Punjab, Firozpur, also known as Ferozepur, lies on the border of India and Pakistan. Firozpur was believed to have been founded by one of the Sultan Muslim leaders of the Tughlaq dynasty, Firoz Shah Tughlaq, who was known to nurture new cities and villages, while bequeathing them with his own name.
