What is PNR status?

PNR (Passenger Name Record) is a unique 10-digit number assigned to every IRCTC train booking. It contains complete journey information- train, date, class, passengers, and booking status.

How to check PNR status

Performing a PNR check on Cleartrip takes under 5 seconds. Follow these steps for instant train enquiry.

  1. Find your PNR No.

    Locate your pnr number on the top-left corner of your printed train ticket, or in the IRCTC booking confirmation SMS. Your pnr no is always a 10-digit number.

  2. Enter the 10 digit PNR

    Type your pnr status 10 digit number into the input field at the top of this page. Only numbers are accepted—letters and spaces are filtered automatically.

  3. Click "Check status"

    Hit the orange "Check PNR Status" button. Cleartrip will fetch live data from Indian Railways and display passenger details, booking status, coach/berth, and our confirmation probability.

Understanding your booking status:

  • CNFBoard

    Confirmed

    Your seat/berth is confirmed. Board the train.

  • RACBoard

    Reservation against cancellation

    You'll get a shared berth. May get full berth if someone cancels.

  • WL/GNWLNo board*

    Waitlisted

    Not yet confirmed. Position improves as others cancel.

  • PQWLNo board*

    Pooled quota WL

    Waitlist from a shared/pooled quota. Harder to confirm.

  • TQWLNo board*

    Tatkal quota WL

    Waitlist under Tatkal quota. Generally doesn't clear.

  • RLGNRAC only

    Remote location general

    Similar to RLWL, but may get RAC status before chart preparation if cancellations occur at origin.

  • SCRBoard

    Side charting reservation

    A confirmed side-berth allocation issued during chart preparation from residual quotas.

  • CANNo board

    Cancelled

    Ticket has been cancelled. No boarding allowed.
