History

This train was named after the fact that Bengaluru is dotted with several private and public gardens. The term ‘Udyan’ means ‘Garden’ in Sanskrit, Marathi, Hindi and Kannada.

During the journey, the Udyan Express traverses through many scenic areas such as the Sahyadri mountain range located between Karjat and Lonavala, also called the Bhore Ghats. When it enters Bangalore, it passes through the famous Makalidurga Ghat, an area dotted with sharp curves.
