The four divisions which the North Western Railways is divided into are:
Ajmer - This is a popular pilgrimage destination as it houses the tomb of the Sufi saint, Moinuddin Chisti. The Pushkar Mela is held 10 kms away and Lake Foy Sagar, a beautiful artificial lake created for famine relief, is situated in the outskirts.
Bikaner - Famous for sweets and savories, Bikaner was the capital of the erstwhile princely state of Bikaner. It is complete with splendid forts and palaces. Bikaner is the hub of Usta Art, produced by a family of master artisans.
Jaipur - Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan. It was founded in 1727 by the Maharaha Sawai Jai Singh and is popularly known as the 'Pink City' of India due to its pink sandstone structures. It is a remarkable pre-modern city owing to the width and regularity of its streets, laid out into six sectors.
Jodhpur - Jodhpur is the second-largest city of Rajasthan and the former seat of the princely states that were spread across the Rajputana kingdoms. Jodhpur is home to the Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mehrangarh Fort, Ghanta Ghar and Jaswant Thada. The archaic buildings and breath-taking landscapes of Jodhpur have been featured in big-banner movies like The Dark Knight Rises, The Fall, Hum Saath Saath Hain and Veer. It has also been the proud host to celebrity weddings, giving rise to an opulent wedding industry and tourist footfalls.
The North Western Railways is the gateway into the state of Rajasthan. Tourism flourishes in Rajasthan: the majestic palaces of Ajmer-Pushkar and Japur, the desert forts of Jodhpur and the pristine lakes of Udaipur make the state feature amongst the most preferred destinations in India for both domestic as well as international torusits. It accounts for eight percent of the state's gross domestic product and the North Western Railways provides passengers with access to these treats for tourists.
The North Western Railways provides passengers all the required amenities and facilities including train schedule and PNR status monitoring.
