'The city of Thane is located at the northernmost tip of the renowned Thane Creek. The creek consists of marshy wetlands teeming with mangroves and marine fauna. The scenic appeal of its natural setting makes Thane Creek worth a visit. Another unique feature of the creek is that it attracts a large number of flamingoes during the migratory season in winter. It has therefore been named as a flamingo sanctuary by the Maharashtra government. Be sure to visit during the months of January and February to spot large flocks of the pink birds along with several other migratory birds as they make the creek their home for the season.'
