'A vast landscape with a cover of lush green grass, the Gandhi Maidan is situated within the city of Patna, on the banks of the iRver Ganga. But more than simply a stretch of green, the Gandhi Maidan is an iconic ground. It has witnessed many defining moments in Indias historic freedom struggle. The Maidan is largely popular for having hosted assemblies and rallies of freedom fighters during the 1940s. Previously named Patna Lawns, it was renamed as Gandhi Maidan in honor of Mahatma Gandhi. Among the many luminous personalities it has hosted are stalwarts of the Indian freedom struggle such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Pandit Nehru and many more. '
