'Mehrangarh has been the headquarters of the Rajput clan, the Rathores for over five centuries. Maharaja Gaj Singh II is the current head of the clan and the custodian of this fort, which stands about 400 ft above the skyline of Jodhpur. Majestic in red sandstone, this imposing structure is one of the most impressive destinations for tourists in Rajasthan. Rudyard Kipling is known to have once called it “the work of giants”. The Mehrangarh Fort is one of the best-preserved forts in India and is a location that must be visited by all at least once in their lifetime. '
