'Before it became the ‘City of Nizams’, Hyderabad was the seat of the mighty Qutub Shahi dynasty. A little distance from their stronghold—the Golconda Fort—the royals of yore rest peacefully in their other-worldly abodes at these tombs. Blending three different architectural style; Persian, Pashtun and Hindu, these crypts are worth a visit. Fitting resting places for the founders of Hyderabad, the tomb of Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah in particular is known to be the most expensive among these. The tombs are built on an elevated base each consisting of a sarcophagus and a burial vault within. The surrounding gardens add to the overall tranquility of the setting and transport you back to the bygone era.'
