With a historical and religious touch to it, Faridkot is a place where you can experience the great culture and heritage of India. Situated in southwestern Punjab, the town is a great place for tourists on a spiritual quest. The town got its name from Baba Sheikh Farid; at first he was a forced laborer but then people saw the miracles—when he had to carry a sack of mud on his head, it floated above him; he didn’t have to put in any effort whatsoever. The other laborers and the people of the town then realized he had magical powers and was no ordinary person He was then asked not to work and the place was named after him. Every year for nine days in the month of September from the 15th to the 23rd, there is a fair called the Farid Mela—visiting during time would enable a tourist to get the true feel of the place.
