'The Government Museum in Egmore, Chennai was established in the 19th century by the British during imperial rule. The museum campus covers over 16 acres, and is divided among six buildings and over 40 galleries. The galleries include collections from archaeology, zoology, botany, geology, anthropology, art, chemical conservation, and a separate children’s museum. Over the decades, the museum has been renovated and parts of it have been demolished and reconstructed to keep it safe and functional. Educational and entertaining, the Government Museum is a great way to learn more about India’s history, especially that of the South. '
