Located on one of the outlets of the River Narmada, Bharuch, in Gujarat, is a region rich with history. In the evenings, during the time of prayer, the ghats light up with what seems like a million diyas, adding a great deal of charm to the place.
The Golden Bridge, built by the British in 1881, connecting Bharuch and Ankleshwar, is yet another popular tourist spot. History buffs should also go see the 1,000-year-old fort in Bharuch, built by Siddhraj Jaysinh, the king at the time. Located on a hill that overlooks the river, it offers splendid views of the surroundings.
