'Located 14 kms to the north west of Ajmer, the Pushkar Lake is one of the most sacred lakes for Hindus in the country. It is surrounded by 52 bathing ghats. Common belief is that devotees cleanse themselves of sins and cure serious skin diseases with just a dip in the Pushkar Lake. This prominent temple’s sacred nature is due to its association with Lord Brahma. The lake finds mentions in Hindu scriptures as Tirtha Raj or the king of pilgrimage sites. It is also represented in coins from the 4th century BC.'
