This boutique hotel is located centrally in the old french town of Pondicherry and it used to be the house of the Mayor. The hotel has a typical French architecture with large, spacious rooms and a beautiful open central courtyard. My stay with my wife was very pleasant and comfortable. The hotel staffs were very efficient and caring. We had our breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the food was really tasty.I would strongly recommend this hotel to all !!!!!

Booked the place for three nights. amazing ambience, was completely floored by the hospitality. The room was spacious and with ample amenities. Bathtub, Centrally AC, etc. Cleaning, Room service was impeccable, rivalling that of a 5 star. Restaurant is a must. Try the creme caramel in dessert.

The location and property is lovely. The staff are also very friendly and helpful with getting autos or giving directions to nearby places. While the room was cool and comfortable,
the beds need to be a larger size as my husband and I could just about fit head to toe, which was bit uncomfortable to sleep in! The view from our room was very nice looking down on the garden restaurant.
The breakfast needs a lot of improvement. While the staff are really quick with taking your order and suggest choosing anything from the menu the kitchen takes very long to produce the dish. We tried puri bhaji, paranthas & masala dosa and they were all bad so we went back to eggs & croissants which is the only dish they do well. The dosa filling of potatoes and peas is also what they give you as bhaji with the puris - it lacked all flavour. In a city which produces a variety of local cheese they have only one cheddar on offer. The presentation of the breakfast buffet is also below average.
The stay on the whole was very pleasant and comfortable.

Hotel location was good service was good also.
The breakfast layout was not good at all n the food we ordered for breakfast was very bad n very late service.
The beds very small n sleeping at night was difficult due to length of the bed.

The charming Boutique Hotel has a quiet prime location in the french quarter of pondicherry. upon arrival from chennai airport after 3 hours drive, we gladly recieved our comfortable room
in the basement to rejuvenate and got rid of jetlag. the room had a high-bed, fridge, air condition and clean bathroom, just anything to feel comfortable. also bottles of water have been placed each day. the rooms on the 2 floor have glass walls with phantastic views but we were fine with our room on the ground floor. right after the entrance u step into the patio were also breakfast and dinner is beeing served. we tried the restaurant very late once and have been satisfied with the indian curry dishes. breakfast needs a bit of improvement in terms of variety and presentation. the staff in general was very friendly and helpful so i would definitly return to this little gem on the indian coastline.
also bear in mind it gets very hot during mid day. le dupleix guest are invited to use the pool at the promenade hotel which is 3 minutes away. we also found a nice beach couple of miles north called boody beach, a relaxed place for swim and sundowners. the cab driver will know wehre to drive. if you follow the promenede right hand side till the far end you'll find the seagull restaurant. get on the first floor and enjoy your kingfisher beer overlooking the ocean. dont opt for food there and also dont look around because the venue is managed by indian goverment so imagine how professional they might be. the location and pricing makes up for it. pondicherry is a very nice and lively-authentic village, with lots of atmoshere right at the see. auroville and its commune is 10 minutes away and worth to be visited.

We had a rocky beginning to our stay, when, after a 3-hour drive from Chennai airport, the hotel desk said they don't have our reservation. Having booked directly through the
hotel's website, this was a surprise we hadn't bargained for. I recommend that fellow travellers call them up a few days in advance to reconfirm. Fortunately, they did have a smaller penthouse available where we put in our luggage while waiting for our's to become available.
Had lunch while waiting. My black pomfret was actually decent, my daughter's squid not bad, but my wife's chettinad chicken was insipid to the point she didn't go beyond a few spoonfuls. This made us stay away from meals at the hotel thereafter. I will say, though, that they are not bad at basic Continental preparations. They aren't good with local food. We found this to be true even at the breakfasts we had - okay at poached eggs or sunny side ups, but leaving a lot to be desired when it comes to idli or dosa. And they take inordinately long in getting you your food.
But our room was very good. Wooden flooring, old world wooden roof, wood panels, a very big bathroom. We had a very big bed and enough space in the room to lay out a spare mattress for a third adult. The mini bar doesn't quite chill your drink, but they obliged us with their kitchen fridge for that. They always timed housekeeping for the duration we were away. We indulged ourselves with oil massage sessions that they organised from a spa.
There is a very laid back, relaxed air about the hotel. There are several chairs, sofas and swings in the balconies and landings where you can curl up with a book. If it feels warm, you can trust an attendant to place a pedestal fan for you, without having to ask for it. The staff are mostly youngsters who really want to make your stay pleasant. And they will organise transportation for you even at short notice. We found Ola Cabs to be a good alternative as well.
Several good eateries are just short walks away. Do try La Maison Rose, Le Club, Kamatchi Biryani Veedu and Surguru Spot. And don't miss the green coconut water that are sold around every corner.
All things considered, this is a nice place, located well and has friendly staff. The rooms are what you expect at a boutique hotel. But their food and general upkeep can come up a few notches. It will be an excellent option then.
