This boutique hotel is located centrally in the old french town of Pondicherry and it used to be the house of the Mayor. The hotel has a typical French architecture with large, spacious rooms and a beautiful open central courtyard. My stay with my wife was very pleasant and comfortable. The hotel staffs were very efficient and caring. We had our breakfast in the hotel restaurant and the food was really tasty.I would strongly recommend this hotel to all !!!!!

The grandness of the 18th century residence to the French Mayor is reflected in each and every section of this unique 5 star heritage property. Located in a relatively quiescent corner of the white town of French Pondicherry, it is just a stone's throw from the Promenade and shimmering waters of Bay of Bengal. The interior architecture is primarily colonial giving a majestic feel to the rooms. The French courtyard provides an amazing experience with finest European delicacies to offer. The staff is peasant and very helpful. Especially, Mr. Suresh, the manager was extremely courteous and always keen to offer the best service to make the stay comfortable and efficient. Highly recommended for romantic getaways.

We were on family vacation and trust me decor and ambiance was so lively that we were taken a back to colonial era. I must say they have excellent sense of space management and up keeping of hotel. We were given one penthouse suite and one deluxe room. It is a great choice for family coming together to Pondichery.

We stayed in room no.2 in the ground floor. I'd recommend travelers to ask for rooms on the first or second floor. The room was pretty big with all the
necessary amenities including a mini refrigerator. The lighting inside the room was fantastic. There was a large window as well. The rooms have been renovated with utmost care and elegance to preserve the traditional french architecture.
But there were some minor glitches which didn't make our stay a complete one. The bed was too high. AC wasn't very effective. Noise from the restaurant was a disturbance in the evening. Hot water wasn't available. No health faucet in the bathroom.

I had a dinner here with my famy during my 1st weekend of june'15 stay. While i did try for a room,i cudnt get one. I had to stay at
a sister property, the promenade.
This is a beautiful colonial property refurbished to house a comnercial business. Lovely smallentrance and a courtyard. Beautiful outdoor seating in the upper courtyard, lovely wood and glass staircase to take you to upper floors to the rooms. I am told the rooms are tastefully done and luxurious.
Forthe food in their restaurant, the usual mix of indian, french and other continental dishes. A very small indoor/ AC section. Pretty congested with very few tables. They fo not accept reservations on weekends am told. So go ahead n try your luck. Once again prices are even. Not fancy. Goid colkection of wines. Sadly, i would have expected a decent collection of cheeses to go with. Dint have any. Good food though. Very attentive staff.
I lil attention on wait staff hygiene considering the high humidity n sweat factors will make guests feel more happier. Otherwise a fantastic experience. Highly recommended. I will eat here again and stay too.

Stayed here for a day during a weekend trip to Pondicherry. The place is located in the French part of town. Small boutique hotel, within 5 mins walking to the
beach. Its french themed, with a band playing in the evening during dinner. This place is dated to the colonial era, where the property belonged to a french major or someone liked that. The property was brought over by the Hidesign guys and converted to a hotel and I am guessing its currently managed by the Sarovar group.
The rooms are fairly small - but good enough. The loo and the toilet are a lil weird without proper doors, but I guess thats what adds to its charm - might not be too suitable if one is travelling with friends - can get a lil weird!
Breakfast is very very basic, and was included with the room price. But definitely can do with some additional items than just a few croissants and some eggs. As an Indian traveller, one has come to expect for more. Parking is available on the main road outside the hotel.
Would suggest travellers not to opt for the ground floor rooms, coz one has to walk thru the restaurant to reach the room, plus can get a lil loud with a live band playing right outside your door!
Would I go back.. Yes I guess I would!
