I personally thank and wish Cleartrip for their excellent consistent support on sourcing best class hotels in terms of Price, Co-Ordination and Information as far as I dealt till today.Obviously Hotel is Best in class with promised Facility and services, Staffs were Kind and clean home feel rooms. Restaurant and Bar is good, However service consistency is not appreciable. Suitable hotel for couples and close to rock beach, Aurobindo ashram, Botanical garden, Temples, Market and French monumental and architectural wonders! My rating it Good! Enjoy your time

The rooms are clean and large, ample car parking and centrally located. It has a non vegetarian restaurant Anjappar attached to it. So Vegetarians have to look elsewhere for food. The staff were courteous and room service was good.

We stayed three nights in Devis Grand. It is centrally located with spacious room (No 101). The room had a lot of noise pollution during the day as it faces the main street. The staff at the hotel is helpful, they made all efforts to help us out in any matter we needed assistance with. The French town is a walk able distance, only the traffic can be annoying at times. The hotel can improve on the linen and provide some basic amenities like electric kettle, tea bags, water bottles etc. To make the customer more comfortable.

The hotel is located in a nice place. Room and bathroom were clean too. But there is problem of open gutter near the entrance(entire street in fact) which is an eye sore. Rest is pretty good.. Would recommend for budget stay.

Stayed in this hotel for over a week in March 2015. A very poorly managed hotel in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. There were black bugs and baby cockroaches running
around in the room all through the week. One morning, I woke up to a dead bug in my bed besides the pillow. It was very disgusting to be living amid bugs. There was pest-control being carried out in other rooms and I guess that's the reason all the insects and bugs from other rooms came running into mine (room no. 206). Same was the case with my colleague who was staying on the other floor (room no. 106). Since we were in pondy for work purpose and bookings were already done by our client, we chose to ignore the inconvenience and continue in this hotel. I did inform the hotel staff about the insects but all they could do was getting a pest spray, which I didn’t allow them to use since I’m allergic to it. I politely conveyed to the hotel staff that it’s not a good idea to be carrying out pest-control in certain selected rooms to the inconvenience of customers staying in other rooms.
A gist of my not-so-pleasant experiences at Devis’ Grand:
1) When I first checked-in into the room (room no. 103), saw that the wash basin tap was broken. So I informed the staff and had to wait for half an hour to get shifted into another room. After a long day of travel, this was not something I was looking forward to. It was disappointing to see that they claim to be a ‘Business Class Hotel’ but do not have the basic checks in place.
2) On the first night of my stay, a bunch of drunkards had occupied the room next to mine, and at 2 am in the night, I woke up to loud music and noises. I tried to ignore but it was so loud and disturbing that I had to inform the hotel staff. The hotel guy tried his best to convince the group to keep the volume low, but it took a long time to get them under control. Later next day, the hotel guy mentioned that there’s a bar on the top floor and they were bar customers who were in the hotel for a night’s stay. It was a big respite to know that they’ve vacated.
3) On the second last night, there was something in bed that was biting me in the night. I don’t know if it were mosquitoes or some insect.
4) Spotted few red ants on the bed sheet on one of the nights before going to sleep. Picked each one of them & threw them away.
I somehow did not complain much to the hotel management of any of the above incidents. However, it was on the last night that I lost my temper when, upon my return from work, I found that pest-control & paint was being undertaken in further additional rooms despite having communicated to the hotel staff about my plight with the bugs from other rooms coming into mine. And just as I opened the door of my room, I saw a handful of black bugs entering the room along with me! Secondly, when I went to the wash room, I found to my dismay that it had been used by someone else, was not properly flushed and the toilet seat was left dirty. This was the LIMIT OF MY PATIENCE and I got mad at the hotel staff. They apologized and got me shifted into another room. They took half an hour to arrange for another room. I had to repack all my stuff and shift into the other one (room no 103). I conveyed to them that I will NEVER EVER step into this hotel again.
Upon my return back to home in Mumbai, when I put my clothes to wash, found a baby cockroach tucked inside the pocket of my pant. Had to take extra care to see that I remove and throw away any insects and bugs that I brought along from Devi's Grand in my clothes and luggage bag! :-/
All in all, I would term my stay at Devi’s Grand as “terrible”. However, I’m giving it one star for its good location and its good staff – they were polite, courteous and helpful.
