Beautiful property..next to the backwaters. Courteous and helpful staff. Rooms were good. Safari tours..both river and forest.. were well organised. Enjoyed the cycling too...with the cycles complimentary. Food was average and the bar was disappointing.

Stay was splendid , rooms very clean and cosy, very spacious and full of light as we were in the waterfront rooms. Service was very prompt and staff friendly. The safaris were very well coordinated and enjoyable. Food was excellent and we had all good options even for elderly people with specific food choices. Kayaking was fun, and will recommend that as a must to do at the Serai Kabini. Special thanks to Manoj and Laksmaiah from housekeeping, Chamraj the naturalist and tour guide, Mahesh and Harshit at the front desk, Krishna the boatman, Ramu the driver and guide for boat safari, Mithun and Raghunath at the restaurant, Satish, Sang and Neo at the OMA spa. The spa team was simply fantastic. The full body spa with special stone massage is highly recommended. Thanks to the entire Kabini team for making this trip so wonderful.

Mr.AM Mahesh and team took good care of us and ensured our stay was very comfortable and pleasant, their service is the best I have seen, they helped very well with the safari as per our convenience as we had kids, the property is huge and well maintained, they have all kinds of indoor activities for kids and adults, we will come back again for sure. Only improvement point would be on the taste of food, food is good but it can be better

The Serai Kabini offers quite luxurious accommodation and excellent service. We had a lovely large and comfortable room with a verandah overlooking the lake, with a large bed, generous bathroom and sunlit (i.e. glass-roofed) shower. It is expensive, but given the lakeside location just outside the Nagarhole Park, and next door to the Kabini River Lodge departure point for most safaris, it is not overpriced and there are many complementaries, including welcome snacks and activities like table tennis, archery, kayaking or an hour's guided shoreline nature walk every morning. There is a minimally-equipped gym and a pool that is generously proportioned given that the whole resort has only 20 guest rooms. The L-shaped restaurant lacks atmosphere and the food is standard multi-cuisine fare but if you are off on a safari in the morning, you can get a hot drink before departure and a full breakfast on your return. The Serai's website is in need of urgent updating. If, for instance, you read (as I did) that before you can take photos in the Park, you will need to get a permit from the State Tourism Department, you can ignore it. I even rang to check, and reached the Serai Head Office in Bangalore, who insisted to me that the permit was necessary (since they lazily simply quoted from the website). In fact, 3-hour safaris depart each morning (7-10) and afternoon (3-6) from Kabini River Lodge, and the Serai will make a booking for you and provide your transport there (departing 6:40 and 2:40) and back. There are 3 types of safari, and I tried all three. I found the boat safari (which tours the shoreline from the lake) was the best for viewing wildlife in the summer and the most comfortable, but beware that in winter the water level is much higher and the shoreline disappears, so not a good option then. There are 2 options for land safari. In the first, you travel in a 'canter' which is actually a 30-seater coach with half the seats next to a window. Like the boat safari, this costs ₹2500 + taxes. For the second, you travel in a large covered jeep holding up to 12 with more than half of the seats on the outside. This costs ₹3000 + taxes and in my view is better as the jeeps are more manoeuvrable and travel a little faster than the canters. They are equally uncomfortable. The Serai's resident Safari manager Chamaraj will try hard to persuade you to take the canter option since it's generally more profitable for him, so if you want the jeep you may have to insist and maybe even threaten to book it direct yourself; in the end he will arrange the jeep safari for you if you don't give in. On top of these charges you will need to pay extra to take a camera on each 3-hour safari. Although the Serai will take the money from you, this charge goes directly to the National Park, so it helps to maintain the Park. The minimum is ₹250 + taxes for a 'standard' lens of 90mm or less, ₹500 for 100mm, ₹750 for 200mm, ₹1000 for 300mm and so on. Don't expect to see a tiger or a black panther, just be thankful if you are lucky enough to see one. I had a very brief glimpse of a panther in 9 hours of safaris, but there's plenty of other interesting wildlife to be seen here.
