For those looking for an unforgettable stay in Udaipur - Oberoi Udaivilas is the one!

Oberoi does it again! Although the pictures on the web site look amazing, they do not do justice on how incredible this property actually is. It is stunning! When in India, we always try to stay with Oberoi as the experience from check in to check out is absolutely triple first class! Our 30th anniversary was celebrated in style and the attentive hotel staff always had a reminder for us at hand throughout our memorable stay. Special mentions go out to: Sakshi Singh (intern) - for helping my wife put on her sari on for dinner Akash - for making delicious drinks for us at the lakeside bar Kishan - our boat driver for taking us around the lake at sunset For those looking for an unforgettable stay in Udaipur - this is the one! Thanks Team Oberoi - you are incredible.

We have been to celebrate our 10th anniversary here. I must say that Udaivillas is one of the best properties to been at Udaipur.. The staff is very humble and always available. Aman and Vishal has made it beautiful stay with a lovely room decor. We had 1 night stay at Leela Palace also. But there hospitality is poor.

Well designed hotel, but falls short of the overall standards expected at this level

I really wanted to write a better review, but perhaps my expectations were too high for this hotel after a lot of the reviews. To start with the positives: - Fun arrival by boat, and the driver was very pleasant to us both - Check in was efficient and our room was ready a little earlier - Semi private pool room was excellent, lovely view and well designed - Housekeeping led by Prachi was top notch, personal gifts and efficiency - Outdoor spa pool was a lovely place to be as it was generally quiet - An overall sense of friendliness from the staff, if a little transactional And onto the areas for improvement: - On arrival, we wanted lunch, and asked if we could sit outside, there were plenty of tables with people at them but they said not possible as no tables in the shade - you'd expect a five star hotel to be able to source an umbrella to solve this issue, was not possible - There was a significant amount of disruption in the form of very loud music throughout the day as they were running a private event which sounded like a music festival for the whole day before, despite numerous complaints from ourselves and other guests, nothing was done - it was so loud we could not hear the hotel's flute player at the sunset bar - Staff mean well but they are clearly mostly recent graduates in their 20s with little to no real experience in hospitality, food orders were forgotten, wrong items brought and often overbearing approach - staff should be friendly but respect and sense the space that guests want - Whenever there were significant problems during our stay, the solution was often a free round of drinks or a cake, very often knee-jerk responses to problems that frankly should never have occurred in the first place - We only used the concierge once during our stay, and this was to book an evening at the Taj Lake Palace (mostly to avoid the loud event taking place) - however, logistical issues with arranging a boat and poor response times from the concierge ruined the experience, there were no instructions on what to expect - When we wanted to highlight the issues experienced with the general manager at the end of the stay, it was done in front of a close audience of other staff members - I am not sure if this is to 'educate' them, but it is not appropriate, and they should have offered a private space to discuss feedback All in all: This is meant to be the Oberoi's flagship hotel, it receives a huge amount of press and media attention, which means it comes with big expectations. Unfortunately, our experience fell quite under our expectations. Comparing this with our previous stay at the Six Senses at Fort Barwara, which was close to perfect. One major issue here is that there is clearly a push from the hotel to prioritise high paying events (making up for lost revenue from Covid perhaps), often at the expense of the guests in the hotel, we felt like second class passengers in what is meant to be a first class experience. My big takeaway here and advice to management is to stop wasting so much effort 'solving' problems after they occur, and pay better attention to making sure they do not happen in the first place. So many of our issues should never have happened with better training and organisation. I was somewhat disappointed that when checking out and discussing our issues, we were given a somewhat defensive response from the general manager about the large event taking place during our stay, explaining why it was such an impressive event, this was irrelevant to us, and did not make its disruption any less. Outcome: Would I recommend this hotel to other people? It seems most people have had a better experience than we did, but I would probably not return myself. I would highly recommend that the hotel management locate much more experienced staff in this hotel if it is their flagship offering.

Brilliant stay at Oberoi Udaivilas with the most courteous staff ever. Starting from the effervescent Esha who are my kids fav, suryarup taking care of us like family at the pool, ever attentive and smiling room service, and hospitable restaurant staff. We had surprises after surprises with both the property and staff. If it's a ever memorable family trip, head to Udaivilas
