We visited Singapore after our trip to KL and The Majestic is like the KL equivalent to Raffles in Singapore.. A nod to the colonial past in the dining room, fans , piano and a singer.. The room we had was clean and spacious, the breakfast is possibly the star of the show, so much choice and very tasty. No faults with this hotel , relaxing lobby and friendly staff.

A sincerely majestic stay par excellence. Was accorded the recognition of my Bonvoy Titanium Elite status & stayed in the most fabulous Governor suite. In the marvellous historic wing of the property. The staff were amazing. Service was first class. Special thanks to Jonathan Cheung Front Office Manager. Nita of FO, Tony Ooi Director of Rooms, Med Supervisor of House Keeping, Sharezal & his Concierge team. I posted 100 pics on my instagram as there were so many hidden gems with great beauty & history. Can’t wait for my return in a few months. Only criticism is the breakfast spread. It’s a very extensive spread but I rather a more limited but quality spread. And the TV channels. You need to include the BBC. It’s a pity I missed meeting the GM. Not a comfortable stay

This was our third stay at the Majestic KL and sadly it was a slight disappointment compared to previous stays. On arrival from the airport when we checked-in (in the evening), the receptionist was indifferent and charmless with no recognition that we were returning guests or that we had gone the extra mile and paid an additional amount for a grand suite rather than a standard room. That night we slept badly as the double-bed was rather firm - and annoyingly if one of us moved whilst in bed it disturbed the other occupant – basically the mattress, despite the reasonable quality mattress topper on it, felt cheap and low quality. As a result we were quite tired the following morning and unable to make the most of our first full day in Kuala Lumpur. Related to this we approached reception to enquire if the grand suite we had previously stayed in 2 years ago was available to change to and they confirmed this could be arranged. Despite the room change, the following night was equally unsatisfactory and we began to conclude that the hotel had changed a number of it’s mattresses and had ignored any focus on guest sleep comfort. As a result of this second uncomfortable night at the Majestic our following day in Kuala Lumpur was again marred by tiredness. For our third night at the Majestic we placed the bed’s duvet over the mattress topper and surprisingly this only slightly improved the situation (in other hotels this approach often helps improve the comfort) – clearly the Majestic’s current beds are pretty grim, cheap and nasty. Therefore our third day in Kuala Lumpur we were again tired and finding it difficult to make the best of our time in the city. For our fourth and final night in the Majestic we contacted the housekeeping team about lack of comfort with the mattress and agreed for an additional duvet to be placed on top of current one on the mattress - how disappointing it was to have to resort to sleeping on top of two duvets over the mattress. Very unimpressive. The result of housekeeping’s efforts was that we had a passable night’s sleep although the poor quality mattresses’ lack of any real comfort was not really curable. Regarding other aspects of the stay in this hotel, the ambience of the lighting in the rooms (and bathrooms) was a bit quirky and indifferent. Some of the lightbulbs were soft-tone with a pleasing, warm light, whereas other bulbs were a cheap white brightness. For example, standing and viewing the bed it looked a bit odd due to one bedside light having a warm-white bulb producing a very attractive light and yet the other bedside lamp having a cheap white bulb producing a dreary grey-white light. Furthermore, in the hotel’s public areas at first glance they appear clean – however, in some areas, if you look closely, you’ll notice there is actually plenty of grime and dust… Clearly these days the Majestic’s management are lacking some focus on customer ‘attention to detail’ – ie: special little touches that make customers feel special such as chocolates on the bed in the evening, beautiful room lighting, or free cocktails for returning guests etc… During this stay the Majestic, for us, lost a certain amount of it’s charm and wow factor, and we’re actually thinking of looking for an alternative, more comfortable, hotel next time we are in KL…

Definitely would recommend this hotel for ROM or wedding. The service was excellent and the place is a very classic place to live in. They also have this orchid conservatory for high tea. It was the best high tea we had so far and the place was wonderful.

We have passed through Kuala Lumpur many times, this was our first time staying - we booked into the Majestic and were not disappointed (still remember the taxi drivers face when dropping us off as it was an impressive, beautiful building with some spectacular cars out front on show!) Our room was huge and the TV above the bath was a nice touch (although limited channels). The room had excellent views over KL, and breakfast had a wide choice of food and drinks available. My only small criticism is location - we arrived later in the evening and wanted to find a shop for some drinks - after walking up and down the road in front, we had to cross over the road and head to the other side of the St Regis, where a security guard was able to direct us to KL Sentral. The hotel does offer a shuttle bus to this location, however this stops quite early which is a shame - upon talking to one of the drivers, this has been since COVID, other hotels offer shuttles for a later time period. It is walking distance, if you have access to GPS on your phone. We did find that you can go into the underground and pay to get across the road without taking a train.
